The coil is easily visible, it should be mounted near the distributor and it is in its own mount that is bolted to the passenger side of the intake manifold. you will need to unbolt the coil mount from the engine, and remove the mount from the old coil, you will need to use the mount for the new coil.

Im guessing it's a 4.3 L engine. Sounds like your coil is acting up when the truck heats up. Bad coil, or small wires going to the coil

I have a 1995 gmc sierra sle 1500 it will crank but not start

the first things to check is going to be your fuel supply (try some starter fluid). if you know your getting fuel then you need to check for spark ( you can pull your coil wire and ark the spark to a ground) depending on the results there's many more things to trouble shoot

Plugged catalitic converter Do a vachum test to be sure also could be the coil going out replace coil in the distributor cap.
