Question about 1985 BMW 5 Series
Check the fuse box out under the hood on the drivers side for corroded fuses, they usually do not even blow out they just corrode and stop functioning, although you still might find a blown fuse or two. That fuse box is the weakness that those years BMW's had.
Remove the fuses and clean the ends of the fuses and the fuse connectors inside of the fuse box with a light sandpaper, or even a fingernail file works alright. Especially make sure that the instrument panel fuse connectors and gauge fuses are clean and shiny again and not blown out.
