Mcdevito75 here, The electric fuel pump in the gas tank may be stuck, try rocking the car side to side with your hip to loose the float arm, Check fuse too, even try turning the key on / off a few times to get the fuel pump going.

Audi A4 Fueling

I learned recently from a customer that on the Audi A4 1.8T (and possibly other models of Audi) - when fueling, make sure the fuel cap is turned (tightened) at least 4-5 times to ensure the seal is good. Otherwise, the check engine light will come on and the pressure (lack thereof) in the tank will affect the performance of the engine.

This may be true as well for other makes an models of other brand vehicles.

Remove spark plugs to see if engine will now turn over. Could be fuel injectors leaked and cylinders are full of fuel. Other possibility is starter bendix is jammed in flywheel.

Depending on what Audi says about fuel required to run your engine. Regular fuel could cause you problems in regards to engine pinging and noises. If you have your owners manual, check and see what fuel or OCTANE quality Audi states should be run through your engine.

If your not sure what I mean by Octane, I'll explain it. Octane is a rating given to a fuel, the higher the rating the better ignition within the cylinders of your engine.

Next time your at your local gas station look at your pumps, and you'll see numbers under Regular probably around 89. But the more expensive fuel has a number like 94. This is why you pay more for the fuel. This number is stating that it burns cleaner and more efficent. This may be what your car requires, that the engineers at AUDI say is required to properly run your engine.

However, make sure that your oil level in your engine isn't over filled this could also cause vehicle back fire, popping noises. But so could a lot of things, hole in your exhaust, near catalyatic converter. Hope I've given you some help.

I left my car for 1 month and can not start anymore. the battery is a new one. i had the same proble before.

Hi I am Vortash after a month it is doubtful that the fuel is not still combustable , so it is probably either a blocked fuel filter bad plugs , or if you have had the same problem before with this car it maybe a bad earth connection either on the actual engine or the bodywork ( rusted whilst standing ?) I am assuming the engine turns over if it does then the plugs or fuel would be my starting place to look .. regards Vortash

Audi A4 2002 2.5 TDi Struggles to take speed

Since the experts have failed, try this:
Have someone inside the car, tranny in park or neutral if manual, parking brake on; you are going to stand in front of it.
- Hood open - Have helper jab the accelerator and watch the engine closely; have them do it more than once but let the engine idle down each time.
If the movment seems excessive, check the motor mounts. Should be three altogether.
If one of these is torn, it will **** linkage for fuel and drive axles causing all manner of strange effects and movements.
I confess, it shouldn't have anything to do with warmup but tha can also be coincidence or a combination of intermittant problems.
