Question about 2006 BMW 3 Series

1 Answer

I have 2006 bmw 325CI and the light in a triangle shape with a circled arrow around it is coming on. My car is not driving the same, i will be driving and the light will come on and I cant press the gas pedal to drive. I have to turn the car off and restart and the light goes away and as I try to drive again, its the same thing. I have taken it to mechanics and they had me change the DEM, some sensors and still same problem. There is also another light, its a circle with snowflakes around it and the transmission is weird because it doesnt seem to be changing out right. I really need some help.

It sounds based on your description that the DSC traction control system may have a malfunction. If there is a fault in this system it can affect engine power and transmission shifting. Do you have the correct wheels and tires on your vehicle, and are they in good condition?

Watching someone in the service if you are on your car if the tires are as large in circumference? I solved the problem were in the car using tires 235/45/18 front and 255/45/18 rear, this is a mistake because the wheels are different circumference and ABS sensors to know that the wheels turning in the front differential in to the back , and thinks that the car has different in traction and trying to correct it at reduced power of motor! to the rear tire should be 255/35/18 therefore lower at how wide! The problem with the gearbox with it. Try this my information

What does the indicator light above the odemeter mean when it flashes- it the light that is shaped like a triangle with a almost complete circle around it.

If the light you are seeing is yellow/orange in color (see below example), and flashes intermittently when you're driving, that is the Dynamic Stability Control indicator.

DSC is always turned on, by default, unless you turn it off. The indicator light will flash whenever the DSC system detects any loss of traction or stability (oversteer/understeer), when your vehicle is in motion.

BMW 3 Series light on dashboard comes on ....triangle with a circle arrow around it orange light

If the triangle has an ! in the middle of it then it's to indicate that DSC or DTC is on for stability.

ALARM LIGHT ON THAT LOOKS LIKE A TRIANGLE WITH ARROW CIRCLING IT. WHAT DOES IT MEAN

On a 1998 3 series (E36) BMW, this indicator lamp is for the ASC+T = automatic stability control plus traction. It should go shortly after the ignition is switched on implying that the system is OK.
If the indicator lamp fails to go out after the engine is started, or comes on in the course of normal vehicle operation it means that the system has malfunctioned. The vehicle remains operational, but without ASC+T. You a have an 2001 3 series (E46), but I suspect the indicator lamp means the same as the E36 3 series. Look in owners manual under "indicator lamps"

Yellow (circled arrow) around a yellow triangle

That light is the traction control device that's been turned "off". It also comes on if the traction control is engaged. On my it can be turned on and off by the switch next to the drivers window toggle. could it be you hit this switch? If it stays on in spite of the switch, could be a wheel sensor. Doesn't hurt performance (could say it helps performance if it's off) but tire life and driving in rain and snow make it useful to have it functioning.
