Just push the lock button - then try to unlock without using the phob and opent the door to see if it works -- if not, your phob will have to be reprogrammed.

Alarm wont set 2008 jeep commander

the car came with 2 RKE FOBs
are both dead.?
alway have 3 FOB if not you can not reprogram a new one. self.
can cost you $300 for more to tow your car to the dealer if the 1 fob dies. never run one fob. or bad happens.
put in a new battery in the FOB for door issues
the transponder part does not use the battery .
the transponder must be good, or the car would never run.
the jeep cuts fuel after 2 seconds if the transponder fails.

Visteon alarm

may have shorted a wire behind the stereo, the body computer has a constant feed that runs near the stereos, check all of the fuses and if one is blown pull the radio and look for a bare wire, you can also try putting the key into drivers door, turning to unlock, that should disarm the security.

My jeep won't start can it be my key that is

If your car alarm was set off it would prevent the jeep from starting.

Disconnect the battery and let sit for a while then reconnect. The computer should flush it's info and you might be golden.

Good luck.

The remote on my 2008 Jeep Commander is totally fickle. Sometimes it works, most of the time it does not. I open it with the manual key and the panic alarm goes off. When I put the remote key into the...

try replacing remote batteries, but must have a second programmed key to reset first one in case its gets uncoded, best advise do not take long time to replace battery, if problem persist have a good honest mechanic inspect door key cylinder security switch if it is not disconnected, but before you do this, if right side front door or rear door has cylinder try opening vehicle from this doors, if they unlock vehicle and alarm doesn't go off you might have problems inside driver's door cylinder switch, on this year vehicle must use STAR SCANNER from chrysler jeep dodge to solve problems

The mfg alarm system on my 2006 jeep commander intermittently has started going off. How can I temporarily disable the system?

There's really not very much you can do because of it being a factory alarm you will have to take it to the dealer and have them check it. They may just need to reduce the sensitivity (if too sensitive cars driving by and set it off). If it is bothersome and you have to do something about it, you can disconnect your cars battery until you can drive it in.

If you happend to open the door or unlock from the inside. you might of activated the theft shut down alarm. Try unlocking and locking the driver door a couple times then taking your key phob, lock and relock the doors until it armed. unlock it then see what happens
