have you replaced radiator cap with the proper pressure cap? if so you may have a head gasket letting some compression into cooling system building too much pressure so the cap is bleeding it off into resevoir

Ok i have a 2002 ford expedition e/b and my a/c is not cooling...ive checked the compressor, the clutch on the compressor and the freon and they r all fine when i turn on the a/c only my top vent cool but...

electrical problem my foot ,you need the correct machine to diagnose this fault ,the gas must be vacated and weighed as its collected so you know how much it had by weight ,then vacumned ,and the correct WEIGHT of gas added ,then whilst machine is connected shut off the low pressure valve and run with AC on and check the the high pressure side which should read at least 200lbs pressure ,if its not then its either the compressor or the venturi restriction valve playing up .for the cost involved change the valve first and see it work if it doesnt then change the compressor

Ac will not cool. oil splatter inside hood . do I need another compressor?

If the oil splatter is all around the compresser clutch and not in other places, then yes you probably need a new compressor. Usually the front seal in the compressors go out and you'll see oil and dirt buildup on the compressor clutch face.

It is possible that the lip seal being replaced could fix the problem, but more times than not, the seal is wore out due to something wrong in the compressor. You'll probably be money ahead to replace the compressor unless you know the bearings are good and the compressor shaft has no side to side movement.

If the oil buildup is elsewhere than the front of the compressor, it could be a bad hose or o-ring. In that case, you may not need to replace the compressor.

I have a 1998 ford escort. The system has been evaced and freon added, also the compressor replaced. The compressor will engage.

Your trying to get the AC to cool and it won't because the orfice tube may be stopped up. during the flushing procrdue did alot of **** come out( broken compresser parts if it flushed good and you put on the new recieved dryer that the warrentee of the compresser requires. and it doesnt coll at al the condenser is stopped up. You cant unstopp them just install a new one evacuate and recharge make sure the fan blows hard and your done

Impossible to tell w/o the belt being installed. If the compressor is dead, no amount of freon will work. My guess is that they probably removed the belt due to compressor issues but if the compressor does kick on and there's no cool air, it may need freon. Freon can't be added unless the compressor is on and running.

Sometimes the clutch pulls in on the compressor but most of the time it doesnt i tried to put freon in it but it wouldnt take

if the clutch is worn and when the a/c works, it works OK, then the clutch gap is excesive and will need to be adjusted. you cant put freon in without the engine running, the low side pressure will be too high. get the compressor running first. if it cools ok, then dont add freon.
