Hello Paul,
The following steps should get you through the process:

you will need:
An automotive trim tool, OR a strong butter knife or long flat headed screw driver, a phillips screwdriver, and some patience.

  • If you do not have the trim tool, Wrap a strong butter knife or long flat headed screwdriver in electrical tape.
  • Pry off the door latch bezel (remove screws exposed)
  • Pry off the window roller (if applicable)
  • If you have the tray/storage space on the door, check for screws, some have them some don't. Remove them
  • Remove all exposed screws
  • Pry the door trim panel from the bottom right, you should hear a "pop" about 1" in after lifting the panel about 1/2" up.
  • Pry your way along the bottom then work your way up.
  • Once all trip clips are loosened, the trim should be held at the top by the window seal.
  • Hold the panel on both sides and gently lift it up and outward in a rocking motion.
  • There may or may not be a moisture barrier between the panel and the door itself.
  • Installation is reverse of removal. PLEASE replace any damaged or destroyed trim clips. You can usually purchase a bag of 5 at your local auto parts store for about $4 USD. There should be 8 in your car's door panel.

Best of luck!

Drivers door is locked. (Manual locks) Will not unlock or open with either the key or by pulling up on the lock lever inside the car.

You probably jarred the locking linkage loose, not fun getting the door panel off to repair it. You could try squirting some down between the panel towards the locking mechanism to see it will free up.

Ignition fell out so I need to find out how to break the ignition locking mech. until I can afford a new one I cant have the steering locking up while driving its a 91 Ford escort

You can defeat the wheel lock by removing the lock plate and replacing it with a small washer of similar thickness. If you have an airbag, it must be disabled to do this...get a manual, follow instructions for directional switch replacement till you get to the lock plate, then reverse order to put it back together. (you will need these instructions to do the lock later as well)

How to replace an entire Car Door? (Ford Escort)

You will need to remove the door panel and unplug and wiring for power windows, locks, speakers, etc. Then support the bottom of the door with a floor jack or block of wood. A friend to help would be good. Unbolt the door at the door hinge either on the door or the body, depending on how it is mounted. You will need metric wrenches, and sockets, screwdrivers for the door panel .

This is going to be a pain in the backside. You need somewhere dry to work. You will need to pull off the inside door panels, and you may damage them in the process. This is probably down to lack of long term mainenance and lubrication in the lock mechanism, and now its either too worn, or the pushrods have bent. If you remove the inside panels, and the plastic sheet liner, you may be able to push the rods about enough to open the door. You will then need to remove the lock mechanism and clean, grease and possibly straighten the rods before reassembling. Check with door open and using a screwdriver to simulate closing the door.
