Where is the timing chain tensioner located on a 4.0 SOHC, 1998 Ford Explorer 2 door

The tensioner is located at the rear (right side) of motor. Jack the car up, remove right front wheel, remove the splash guard. Looking up, above the exhaust manifold near rear of motor you'll see a BLACK 25mm or 27mm bolt head....That's the tensioner.

Ac is blowing out of defrosterandnot panels in the dash. Air is cool cold air will blow out of rear seat panel/vent 1998 ford explored

The most common cause is a bad blend door actuator which controls air flow throughout the cabin. When air flow only flows from 1 section (either floor, vent, or defrost) it's an indication that the blend door actuator is either stuck or broken.

My freestyle keeps saying left rear door ajar, inside lights will not go out,had to pull the fuse to get light off. is this a majoe computer/electrical issue?

no. odds are it's just a faulty door switch. Probally 20 bucks for the switch at local auto parts store. Never replaced one on a ford explorer so I can't give you step by step instructions on this vechile.

1998 FORD Explorer XLS A/C not throwing on front vents

I had a 1998 explorer ltd. The door in the airbox broke. this door changes the direction of airflow. On the airbox, behind the console you can see the pivot point. see if the door moves. I had to drill a hole in the box and hook a wire(coat hanger) up to open and close the door (driving from ny to chicago in the winter, i needed defroster and heat). Fortunately the dealer replaced the whole box for me under warranty, there was a service tip out in 99 or 2000 about this. doubt it's a vacuum hose. you need to remove the dash to get the box out. good luck
