Question about 1999 Mazda Pickup

1 Answer

My friend has a 1999 mazda pickup with the 4.0 V6 . He insalled a new fuel pump and now there is no power to the pump . The engine cranks no sound from the tank and no pressure. Could it be a ground somewhere or would it be related to the theft system .

I have1988 Toyota pickup no fuel pressure. Checked

Friend, I know these Toyota Pickups inside out. Since you know the fuel pump is good, and has a clean fuel filter, then use a test light on the power side of the fuse and crank the engine over. If you don't have power to turn on the test light bulb, then the problem is in wiring between switch and fuse. Being EFI, the computer tells it when to power the pump. May not have power the first crank, cause is clearing, but ALWAYS power on second crank to start. The fuel still in the injector rail will be used first, no power on first crank, then once the pressure drops when that fuel is used, computer will make the pump come on.

I have a 99 s10 andd it wont start it has a new fule pump filter and presser and oil presser rag and new catconverter and spark plugs and nw coil new relay too any ideas it cranks but wont start and

I think I have the solution for ya. In a lot of GM's the security fails. and when it does it will not allow car to start. I know a module that can bypass it and for a very reasonable price and u can install yourself! check it out and see if this is it

1999 Mazda tribute won't start I have no power

This seems a little vague, but usually we he I get a tribute crank no start it's the fuel pump. You could have someone bang on the bottom of the gas tank while you crank the engine over to see if that gets it started..... Just make sure the theft light is not on...

1999 Ford Explorer Sport Starting Issue

It sounds like the pump is failing. That or sometimes not getting electricity. To check which it is, you could use a voltmeter or test light at the gas tank's electrical plug in. You need to check for power on the fuel pump wire when the engine is being cranked for starting. Do this when turning the key to on does not cause the pump to turn on for 2 seconds as it should. The fuel pump has power for those 2 seconds when key is turned to on, and again has power when the engine is cranked. You might miss the two second signal, so check for power when car won't start-when pump won't turn on-and with the engine cranking. If you have a signal then and still no pump coming on, then you must have a failing pump.
But if you have NO power to fuel pump wire with engine cranking, then it is a problem elsewhere-probably the pump relay (try a new relay if you haven't already). That relay is signaled by the engine computer when key is turned to on or when engine cranks . so you could do some testing at the relay if needed.

My 1991 Mazda mpv v6 3.0 cranks but won't start. I installed new Fuel lines, Fuel filter, Fuel pump. why won't it still start.

I assume you get fuel. But, does it get spark? If not then a coil may be bad, pickup coil if so equipped, or ignition coil if so equipped.

Good luck on this one.

1999 mercury cougar. won't start...cranks...battery ok.

V6 ? 4CYL? Have you verified SPARK? Did anyone check the "fuel pump inertia switch?" Its in the right front kick panel. If it was a "Anti-theft Issue" the light would be on or flashing.

you must check the fuel pump relay for operation plus itss fuse, if good then move to the crank position sensor. one can also let a friend crank car while you check for poweer at the fuel pump connector, with a test light

Insalled new computer, cranks but wont start

Does it start and die after 1-2 seconds or just cranks and never fires? Did it run before you installed the computer or are you trying to cure a no start problem?
