Question about 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

Heat control will not turn off. I want to

I have a 1997 cavelier and the heat control will not turn off. I have had heat all winter which was great but do not want it during the summer. I want to disconnect the fire wall hoses and connect the two hoses together so I will not have heat during the summer. Would this affect anything else?

No, this would route the water that usually goes through the heater core and bypass it back through the engine. I should mention that this is a way to temporarily fix a problem but should not be employed for a long term solution.

It may be your mode door that is not closing to make that transition to heat or your head unit has a leak(if controlled by vacuum) or if it is electronic then you might need to get a new one.

Can't get heat to come out of vents on a 1997 cadillac catera

you probably have an issue with the 'blend door', a common problem on Caddys-the arm can (and does) break, removing the ability to change from cold to hot air...check first to see if the vacuum line (very narrow) that goes from the top of the engine into the passenger side of the firewall is not disconnected or broken/frayed. The only other possibility beside this or the blend door is the controller itself-they also can fail, or have problems in the circuit boards or vacuum leaks back behind them. Look for the easy one first-the vacuum line is the most common reason.

I have a 1997 Ford E-150 with no heat so i am trying to open the blend door for winter to let the heat in. how do i do this?

in your engine compartment there is a valve on one of your heater controls temp it might be discounted or stuck close..checkers has a online web site where you can see what the valve looks like and get a price if you need one..if no heat is coming in car thats the problem..the vents are vacum operated and if there is a leak you would have slight rough idle maybe..dosnt hurt to check..check heater under dash for broken vacum lines also engine compartment for vacum leaks..

My heat won't work! Air blows out, new thermostat

The hot water from your engine cooling system is not getting into the heater core. Check out the valve that admits water into it.
