Hello. It appears that the starter is going bad. This is a common item available at most auto parts stores. Generally, the store will want your old starter as part of the deal. Joe

Might be a bearing in one of the accessories, such as the alternator or power steering pump. Try to isolate to a specific location, especially as it gets worse.

So the problem has been occuring for a year and you are just now trying to fix it? Sorry, I just simply do not understand why people do this...keep driving it until it won't drive anymore even though you KNOW it has a problem....Maybe you can explain this to me???

If you can hear the starter clicking when you try to start it, then you have a bad starter. If it makes no noise at all. then you most likely have a bad clutch switch.

I have 95 nissan pickup 2.4 4wd i bought it sat for 8 months now it smokes can you tell me why?

If I had to speculate I would say you have a weak oil ring ! Especially if you are blowing bluish white smoke. The oil is really slow getting to that certain lifter. that's why you hear that tapping. It may be worse on colder days. (Oil being cold)! Eventually you will have to fix this problem.

I have a 1994 Nissan pickup. v6 manual trans. I get a loud hum as I drive. But when I press the clutch in, the hum stops. release clutch and hum starts. Could this be the Clutch fan?

No, By pushing in the clutch to stop the hum all you are stopping from turning is the transmission and ( transfur case if 4 wheel drive ) the engine is still running ..and some parts in the rear differential . I have had 4 nissan pickups and currently drive a 1995 pickup, without actually hearing the noise I would look toward the transmission, these Manual transmissions are very prone to bearing failure. This has happened to 2 of the one's I have had including the one I have now. You can also see as time goes by if the noise is quieter in fourth gear than others because this is direct drive and not as many trans bearings are involved Good Luck

I have a 1998 Chevy S-10. theres 187,000 miles on it and I'm hearing a wierd grinding sound in the clutch/tranny area when I reach a higher RPM and mostly when I let off of the throttle. I'm starting to...

If the noise goes away when you touch the clutch pedal the clutch fork pivot ball is dry and should have been updated to recieve a grease fitting on the bell housing.

Pickup does not want to start

What year vehicle? Sounds like a bad fuel pump. Put your ear close to the fuel tank and have someoine to the ignition to the 'on' posistion (dont try to crank it). You should hear a buzzing noise when in the 'on ' position. If you do not hear it, then your fuel pump is probably bad. On an older vehicle, the pump is attached to the motor.

Clutch Whine on Toyota 4WD Pickup

Bad bearings. Perhaps a throw out bearing. The pressure on it varies depending on whether your pushing on the pedal or not, and how much. If the noise occured only when the truck is moving, then I would say it is the input bearing. Changed alot of those years ago.

Truck makes loud noise unless clutch is pushed in

chances are the adjustment of the throwout bearing fork is the problem . because of vibration that is the rattling that you are hearing. correct adjustment should be as follows.

#1...peddle travle should be no more than 1 1/2 inches

#2...the clearance between throw out bearing and fork no more than 1/2 inch

#3...clearance between fork and fork stops is 1/8 inch

also there should be grease zerts in the shaft that holds the fork and linkage make sure they are not dry of grease...please rate the solution....thanks
