Question about 2000 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

2000 chevy blazer. In warm weather while driving this vehicle, after about 20 miles it will shut down everything and leave you stranded. It does not do this in the winter or when it is cool out. On a hot day it does this every time. It acts like it just ran out of gas. All the gauges read fine. Fuel pump has been replaced.

You might be having computer failure. You would need to use a heat gun on the computer. On 2 minutes off 2 minutes to see if the problem can be duplicated.

If the problem sounds or feels like its from the rear of the vehicle, its most likely in the differential, specifically pinion bearings.

Vehicle batteries tend to die during cold weather months since more amperage(power) is required to turn over the engine.

2000 blazer 4 wheel drive problem

It's most likely the "four wheel drive actuator" This is located on the front differential housing. It's cylindrical shaped and has a large hex (about
1-1/4") and two wires coming out of it. Usually they short out and blow the fuse but, I've also seen where they just quit working and sometimes they just get slow to work. The "actuator" has a heating element in it and it warms up, some sort gas, causing it to expand thus engaging the front wheels. In cold weather it may take a minute or so for it to engage, so put in four wheel drive and wait for a bit and see what happens.
