If the starter motor is running, check if there is spark by removing one of the spark plug wires, and putting the connector near the spark plug or to the engine block while someone else is cranking.

Also check if there is fuel pressure by using a gauge like this:Actron Gauge.

If there is no fuel pressure, check volts to fuel pump. If no Volts, check fuel pump fuse and wiring.

Check all fuses, you can ensure they are all OK reading volts or Ohms on the fuses.

Other thing to do is a scan code. 1992 Chevys have OBDI codes, and the scan must be done at the dealer.

Regards. what if i done all this?

Please describe exactly what your car is or isn't doing. Will it crank over? Does it try to fire? Did it have any other symptoms preceding this?

    I need to know:

    1. Is the starter turning the car over? If not, what happens when you turn the ignition switch?
    2. If the engine does turn over, have you checked for spark? Easy way to do it: Dribble about 5-10cc of fuel into the intake/throttle body. Try to start it. Does it fire?
    3. Are there any warning lights showing up when you try to start it other than oil pressure?

Does the starter turn? Does it do anything? Replace the coil? Plugs? Wires? Check fuses? Does the fuel pump come on?

install new fuel pump then turn key on but do not crank the engine then listen for pump when it stops turn key off then repeat 5 or six time, this will prime the pump and get fuel up to injectors

Fuel pump on 1994 caprice not pumping fuel. its a new pump. replaced pigtail harness and relay. checked all fuses and used test light to check wires connecting to fuel pump.

I've run into new pumps that didn't work. If there is power at the pump and it is not pumping, then the pump should be replaced, again (under warranty).

I have a 1992 chevy caprice.when car sits overnight i go to start it and it cranks over probably 7or 8 times then starts and runs good.i had a 1977 chevy with a carburator and it fired up in about 1.5 to 2...

No this is not normal at all and you have a problem. FI engines should start immediately and run great without any hesitation. It can be a partially clogged fuel filter. Replace the fuel filter ASAP. It can also be a weak fuel pump or defective fuel pressure regulator especially on a 18 year old car. Fuel pump is located on top and inside the fuel tank. The tank must be removed to replace the fuel pump. After replacing the fuel filter and fuel pressure test will tell you if the pump is going bad.

COMPUTER CABLE HARNESS IS MAKING CONTACT WITH EXHAUST MANIFOLD, HEATING AND BREAKING AISLANTS. IF NOT, SOLICITE YOUR MECHANIC TO RE INSTALL THE MODULE THAT IS INSIDE THE DISTRIBUITOR AFTER CLEAN THE REAR CONTACT VERY WELL, CAPTION COIL MAY BE DEFECTIVE TOO. CHECK KNOCK SENSOR BECAUSE A DEFECTIVE ONE WILL CAUSE THIS PROBLEM TOO. IT'S A COMMON FAIL IN THIS MODEL OF CAR

Also do not let tank run low because fuel in tank keeps in tank pump cool. This is why the pump is in the tank.
