These 4.3L W motors are common for fuel leaking inside the plenum causing them to run rough and smell like raw fuel. The fuel pressure regulator leaks internally, also the injector spider leaks and the two fuel lines feeding the fuel to the spider. You have to remove the plenum and look for the clean spot. Where the fuel leaks it cleans the oil off. Before you try this check your EGR valve. The EGR valves on these get stuck open with carbon and cause a rough idle. Remove it and look for the plunger it is a small round piece that you can push in and out, make sure it closes fully. You can also clean it with carb clean and they make a replacement gasket with a screen in it to keep chunks out of it. Start with the EGR because it is easier. The parts for under the plenum are available at most any parts store. If you have any problems just ask, and if you can not find the parts I will give you part numbers. Let me know what you find I will be back tomorrow.

The p0300 What does that mean? Basically this means that the the car's computer has detected that not all of the engien's cylinders are firing properly.
A P0300 OBD DTC code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-

The p0430 What does that mean? Basically this means that the O2
downstream of the catalytic converter on bank 2 is detecting that the converter is not working as efficiently as it should be (according to specs). It is part of the vehicle emissions
system.

Being 1996 was the first year for OBD 2 Systems
You have at least some scan tool data IF you have a professional
scan tool

You have all YOU will ever need on the internet IF you know how to
ask the right questions

You can spend a lifetime looking at,printing & studying anything
about any subject

I suggest you first study OBD 2 Systems
Then the individual Components
Then get to how to test for cylinder misfires

To find out about codes

TYPE: OBD & the code ---- that easy

OBD PO300 (never need help again)

Check engine light on with p0430, had it reset put some catclean in, drove for 150 miles about 160 mph check engine light did not come back on. But the p0430 comes up.

You didn't reset a thing

You cleared all data needed to diagnose the issue

Google your codes: OBD PO430

You will see you have a failed exhaust converter

Now you have to resolve the reason it failed,
before replacing it,they should last 15 years

Yes they could a PO300 is a generic misfire code. PO301 would be cylinder number 1 so on and so forth. check the resistance of your plug wires they should be approx. 7000 ohms per foot. it could also be a coil over plug. primary resistance of the cops should be 1-3 ohms. but since this is a misfire it would be your secondary. which should be between 20000-30000 ohms. hope I helped you out. Happy Motoring!
