Is there any chance way to check the camshaft position sensor on a 2001 Hyundai sonata?

The connector for cam sensor shows three wires, that should be ref voltage-pink wire, black with white tracer- ground, signal-black wire. The signal wire carries signal to pcm. To check signal, is you have a digital multimeter that has a tach--duty cycle or dwell setting, they should react to a pulse on the signal wire. The ref voltage is 12 volts, probably goes hot with key on. The black wire with white-ground use an led testlight to check ground, should be computer safe.

There are several circuit that use the same 12 volt reference.

How is it that the tach gets its signal from the + side of the coil. This car has had a msd ready-to-run dist. install on it using a Blaster 3 coil. The msd unit must have 12 volts all the time, not the 7...

To get the tach to work you will need an adapter available from MSD. The last one I bought was about $80, but it has been awhile. Go to msdignition.com and do a search for tach adaptor for more information. Good luck.

Factory tach has starting showing approx. twice the actual RPM. This is a factory V8 and nothing has been changed or modified. Where should I be looking to fix this?

first check wiring to dist, it would be quick if you had a mater you could hook to dist, and if rpms were correct then you would know factory tach was no good, that might be your problem, start there, good luck.

My check engine light came on. I read it as a

Code 12 is no G or NE signal to ecm.
These signals are generated from the pick up coils in the distributor.
If the vehicle runs i would just pull the EFI fuse in the fuse box next to the battery for about a minute and reinstall it to clear the light and see if it returns. You may need a new dist or have a wiring problem.

1994 Toyota 4Runner V6 2.0 VZE Engine, Automatic, 4wd DTC trouble code 12 how do I troubleshoot this code?

that code is for rpm signal and possible causes are the distributor wire harness from dis. to ecu (engine computer) or ecm itself! do you have rpm tach working on the dash? if so it might have seen the fault for a few seconds and set the code if you don't have rmp tach then you need to diagnois the cuase by testing the signal out of the dis. then down the line! if you have any more question please ask. good luck

Installing tach on 1997 airstream motorhome with chevy 454 gas power plant need color code for -side coil wire for tach pulse or other way to hook it up

That should be the white wire rom the dist to coil. eather way you will not hurt the tach if you were to get it wrong. There are only two wires. I would look at the distributor and on the top of the cap there it writing and it will say tach an you can plug it directli into that.
