Question about 1993 Toyota Previa

3 Answers

Hi! We would like to know if anyone has an answer to our current problem with out 1993 Toyota Previa. When we first start the van the exhaust is very heavy, white in colour and smells like hot, burnt, antifreeze. Once the van warms up the white smoke disappears but you can still smell antifreeze once in awhile, especially when your just idelling. There is no antifreeze in the oil and there is no signs of antifreeze leaking anywhere. The antifreeze level does eventually go down but it takes a long time and the temperature gauge never seems to fluctuate. Can you please give us an answer to our problem?

Sounds like head gasket leak into the combustion chamber or a cracked head which does the same thing.

K&W block sealant works if its a small crack. Its worth looking into. Good luck.

That previa has a central engine, so all engine work requires you take out driver and or front passenger seat out.

The EGR placement is here >> http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairguides/Toyota-Previa-1991-1997-Repair-Information/EMISSION-CONTROLS/Exhaust-Gas-Recirculation-System/_/P-0900c1528008a1d5

How do i remove the old oxygen sensors and install new ones on my 1993 toyota previa?

The first step and most important step is to disconnect your battery. Then locate the sensors. They are in the exhaust. You should have one before your Catalytic Converter and one after. They just unplug and the new one plugs in as far as the electrical goes. Then they are threaded into the exhaust.
