Squealing from engine bay is a pulley bearing or a belt slipping. Idler pulleys go bad and should be changed out the same time as the belt.

2000 montero sport: There's a loud squealing noise coming from the engine. What could be wrong?

Squealing is most common with loose or worn belts, I would start by replacing the drive belt on the front of the motor and go from there, Its easier to troubleshoot a squealing motor if you know that the belt or belts are good.

Its a 2006 nissan sentra 1.8 i want to know when the squealing happens. I was told the pulley and the turpentine and a/c belts must be replaced.

They may very well need be replaced. Can't say for sure because I can't see it. Look at the belts for any cracks. Serpentine belts has a spring loaded tensioner. There may be a limit gauge on the tensioner that would show when the belt is stretched to its recommended limits. Pulley bearings can go bad and make noise. Plastic pulleys do wear out.

My air coditioning will come out on my feet and defrost yet it will not come out the pannel even if you turn it to pannel

It sounds like vacuum is not getting to the vent, heat and A/C controls. Find the vacuum can. It may be under the hood on one of the inner fenders. Trace the lines back to the vacuum block at the intake manifold or fire-wall, and also back to where the line goes thru the fire-wall. Check the can for leaks or obvious holes. They used to be just a plain metal can, but it could be a plastic ball. Check the lines as you go for breaks and rub-thru's. Move the controls thru all settings and listen for vent door movement. Worst case is a bad vacuum motor or air flow position selector switch.

After sitting in trafffic on the interstate for about 45 min, my 2006 4 cyl. mercury mariner began making a loud squealing/screaming/whining noise almost like a horn sound. the noise occurs at 0mph and...

Loud & Squealing -- sounds more like a belt or the pulleys
going bad,or alternator bearing

A hissing or other less squealing sound ---could be a

intake manifold gasket leak, but your engine would run lean
& set a MIL Lamp or Wrench on the dash

They is no value what so ever with an oil change jockeys
opinion, you need a local repair shop

Doubt anything is cracked

This is a social web site & as you know any prices come
from the merchants you deal with & only when they know
what has to be resolved

Working on vehicles or anything else is not a guessing
game & that is all we can do without the vehicle to test

Sounds like belt squeal on 1994 Plymouth Voyager with 3.8 engine, has new belt, idler & tensioner pulley, after a bit of running, squeal will dissapear at idle but return under power, have tried...

this could be the result of a few things.a belt thats too tght or too lose.there could be a bearing in the altenator going bad causing some grabbing on the belt.ther also could be an air compressor clutch beginning to freeze up.I hope this helps,

2006 kia sorento makes a squealing sound under

It is either the tesnioner or the belt....easy way to find out is to spray the pulley that has no grooves....that's the tensioner. Spray it with WD-40 or equivalent, in the middle of the pulley. That is the bearing housing. Spray only that first. Start the motor...if it goes away, then you have found your problem. Try not to spray the belt.

If it still squeals, spray the belt with the engine running. If it squeals, replace the belt.

Has anything been done to the motor recenlty? If so, one of the pulleys may be a little off-centered.

Let me know what you find.

Power steering leak/Squealing car

Sounds like you bought the wrong hose. also check the o-rings & be sure to use new ones when replacing the hose. Be sure you have it in right & not cross threaded. If it's cross threaded, you got a major problem. First it will always leak, second you probably ruined the pump or rack where it screws in. If it's engine oil, then buy a dye from the auto parts store of choice & have it checked by a shop with an ultra violet light.

Squealing from the front of the car some times.

If the squealing changes in pitch with the speed of the motor it is likely the belt squealing. While the belt is removed, check the tensioner and other pulleys for unusual noise when spinning them by hand.

Squealing noise in 2002 Nissan Sentra

Seems like a drive belt problem, to confirm pour some water on belts the noise should go away or may get louder for a second. If either happens the belt or belts needs to be adjusted or replaced. Good Luck, If I fixed ya, leave me a FIX-YA comment thanks
