Question about 1990 Ford Econoline
I lost power and it quit. At first i thought it was out of gas. Put gas in it and it still wouldnt start. sprayed starter fluid in the intake. the battery has power because the radio and lights work fine. it turns when i try and start it but it wont catch.
2 possible problems here. remember to always look at the inexpensive first.
That would be the ignition control module, which is held on by 2 screws beneath the distributor cap. the dielectric grease used in mounting drys out and causes it to over heat and burn out. cost about 35 bucks...10 mins. to install.
that is what i think your issue is...as fords from88-92 are notorious for it.
second possibility is that you have a bad ECM...and though takes 10 mins to install will set you back aboy 125 bucks.
