I hate to be so much trouble but I havnt told you this is a electronic control with automatic setting and I have looked at at the board it is not burnt and when i place it back in the van it works fine for a while or when i cut off the key and restart it blows through the defroster fine but not through the dash the rear works fine 1997 nisson quest gxe

  • gilltpage May 02, 2010

i HAVE A 1997 Nission Quest the dash vents do not work the defroster vents work fine the back controls for the van work fine. I have replaced the electronic control with a another one and I have the same problem when I unhook the connectors from the fan control box (the one with temp control , on and off and fan speed and vent direction controls) and hook up the connectors it works fine for a littl while it was built in 08 1996 nisson quest built by ford so no wonder it has electrical problems lol

I would check the vacuum from engine compartment to the firewall ,make sure it is good, and there maybe a actuator motor not working correctly in the dash that controls the temp, and direction for the air flow.

I am not sure what year yournquest is from this question but if you replaced the climate control assembly for fan control which is a known issue with these models. Alot have people have taken apart the assembly to solder repair the board itself as the fans can pull too much load for the connection with age. Which fan is not working and what year of quest?

Yes you have the dreaded fan witch solder joint problem. take its case apart and use alot of solder and on the opposite side from 1 pole to the other make the connection all the way from the pole to the opposite pole and get a wire and do the same thing. The draw from the passenger area fan pulls too much load and causes the unit to fail. Common issue.

I do not have a picture of it but when you look at the bottom of the board it will be evident as there will be a dark ring around the joint that has come undone. Youre basically bridging the gap with solder and more wire as the connection is too small to sustain the fans.

I would use a multimeter to check for a loose or intermittent connection. You cant do much to repair it beyond that. The brushes may be going bad in that dash motor, If you can get to its power lead and see if it work continuously when jumpered then you can rule the motor out. If its just flow to certain areas that sounds like binding vent flaps. Best thing to do would keep dash area apart to see function of the flaps when system in operation. If it tries and pulls them you may be able to identify the flaps binding.

Why do we have an Oder that smells and burns our eyes when blower is turned on?

first check the air intake to the climate system. ie. the cabin filter etc. for contamination.its more than likeley the blower speed control unit is faulty. may be resistance or electronic module depending on vehicle. sounds like plastic is overheating to give that problem. without knowing what vehicle it is the only clue that i can give you is that the speed control will be in the air intake before the climate unit ie. heater/aircon behind the dash. hope this helps.

How do I repair a electronic throttle actuator on a 1993 mercedes benz sl600 12 cylinder

You could try cleaning it with a brake and clutch cleaner or some starter spray ,if thats the problem as i seem to remember a 1993 model has a cable to the actuator on the inlet manifold ,if it is fitted with a full electric system then replace the part inside the car as these tend to go first as i dont think you can get it apart to replace the carbon track on its own if the carbon is available. prefer the merc engine of this size to the jaguar V 12 myself although i own a 4.0 6cyl jag the merc is far superior on the mechanics but the interior ------ cannot beat a jag

04 4runner-dash light replacement

Open up the storage area under the climate controls. With it open gently pull upwards on it. It will pop out of place and should slide out with a little wiggling. When that is done, you will see the top of a bolt under the climate controls. I believe it is 10mm. take that out. When that is out you will have to pull on the bottom of the climate control panel. It is all one piece and is held in by clamps so it is kind of tight. Mine took a little work but it came out. If you not comfortable doing it then please dont. I dont want to be the reason some thing breaks. It will come out as one unit. You will need to remove the wiring harness from the back. When that is done just look on the back of the unit and you will see the back side of the bulbs. You will need a little flat head screwdriver. the bulbs simply twist and fall out the back side. this also gives you access to the bulbs for the climate controls if those ever go out.
