Question about 2002 Volkswagen Eurovan
I think the pump is bad and I need to know how to be sure and how to replace it.
Every time you open your drivers door you hear a buzzing sound under the car. That sound is from a working fuel pump priming fuel before you even enter the bus, anticipating a system start up. If you don't here it then it must have seized. More often it happens during early morning or when it sat for quite some time. You can also operate the fuel pump manually by using a jumper wire to the relay. The relay number could be 67, 80 or 167. I wouldn't recommend this if you have minimal experience working on fuel systems, it's very dangerous. It will spark if done incorrectly and set off a fire.
