1995 dodge dakota, 4 cil. Fuel ind. Light no longer works. Can't find the right fuse. Not 13, 14 or 15. Fuel gauge doesn't work either. Now what? Gas math is 4 miles per dollar.

fuel gauge not working probably because the sending unit in the tank is not sending- next to go will be the fuel pump-fuel pump and sending unit are one thingy in your gas tank-cheers Denny

This is a problem that is caused by a defective fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank, in order to replace the sender you must remove the fuel tank from the car.

My fuel gage recently started to behave in a weird way. It can drop rapidly like in 2 seconds to a position below the Empty mark regards of the fuel amount in the tank. Sometimes it just shoots up back to...

look for broken/loose wires/connections around the tank while someone else is observing the fuel gauge. a broken/loose ground could be at fault. the fuel sending unit sends the signal to the gauge, also, look for broken/loose wires/connections from the fuel tank to the fuel gauge if you haven't found the problem yet. if all else fais, ground the body with a temporary connection to see if that is good, body ground is needed to keep them running good.

Gas gage not working

In order to fix your gas gauge, you will need to remove the gas tank and either re-adjust or replace the fuel pump. In your van, the fuel pump and fuel sensor are the same unit.

This is moderately difficult. The hardest part is getting the fuel pump out of the tank without damaging any fuel lines or wiring. The procedure can take anywhere from 3 hours to 8 hours, depending on the tools you have available to do the job.

A hammer, long thick flat tipped screw driver and a socket wrench and set are a minimum for this job, though specialty tools made for your van can make the job easier and faster.

The gas gauge does not work on my 1995 c220. How do I troubleshoot the problem?

Most likely its the seding unit in the tank. Pull it and move the float to check.

I have a problem with my 1995 Merc c220, the fuel

Modern plastics seem to exude something that collects on all the surfaces inside the instrument clusters of many cars. When it settles on the pointers of instruments like the speedo and fuel gauge it produces the effect you mention, sticking the pointer to the rest stop until the meter has enough oomph to pull it free or you go over a bump.
If you have a good magnifying glass you should be able to see what's creating the problem by looking at the ends of the pointers..Actually, just condensation can do the same thing but it's not so sticky and you'd see a mist in the perspex cover too. Since the speedo and fuel gauge control comes from completely different areas these are the only thing I can think of that may link the two things. A couple of extractor hooks from MB would allow you to pull the instrument assembly from the dash. Disconnect the battery if you go this far as it's so easy to short something behind the instruments. Then it's a question of unclipping the two connectors at the back, pulling the cluster free, and unclipping the perspex cover. The procedure's well covered in the Haynes manual.

How do you replace fuel pump on a 1995 dodge avenger?

Easy my friend. Pull out the back seat, and remove the square plate on the passenger side. After you pull back the plate, you will see a round plate that needs to be removed. The fuel pump is attached to the bottom side of this plate. No need to remove tank.
