I have a 2002 monte carlo if i take out the thermostat completely will i still get heat in the car

After a while, yes.

The thermostat is to keep the engine warm (as it runs more efficiently warm). Once the engine gets to operating temperature the thermostat opens and allows water to go to the radiator. The heater sometimes comes directly off the engine block.

To test a thermostat, put it in a saucepan and cover it with cold water. Bring the water to the boil. If the thermostat is working, it will open.

Normal running temperature

I would look else where for the problem unless the thermostat is stuck open. Thermostats work by blocking the water to the radiator until the coolant in the block has reached operating temperature and then they start to open. As soon as they read a cooler water temperature they will start to close and restrict the flow until the operating temperature is maintained . IT would make no difference which thermostat you fitted as the number indicates when it starts to open. I would be checking the temperature sender unit and the gauge and I would be checking the coolant level in the radiator at the cap not the resevoir

2002 monte carlo ss the will start but the engine cooling fan want start

The engine cooling fan is controlled by a thermostatic switch. From your description, I believe you are assuming the fan comes on immediately when the engine starts. Not so. It only comes on when a certain temperature is reached

Where is ect sensor located on 2006 monte carlo 3.5 engine

The ECT (Engine Coolant Temp sensor) should be located by the coolant thermostat housing or where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine. It screws in with a plug or small/short wire harness attached to it. -------------------------------- To replace ect sensor:---
  1. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  2. Remove the intake manifold cover, if necessary.
  3. Remove the exhaust crossover.
  4. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.
  5. Remove the ECT sensor.
