Question about Volvo S70

Mechanic cannot get the service transmission warning message to disappear after installing another transmission on my 2001 V70. Apparently the odometer and ignition fix did not work. What should he or I do?

The "repair," as in a new transmission, to the tune of $2100, has already been done. It's just the message that won't go away.

I also suggest that you go to a Volvo dealer because they are the only ones who have the original computer diagnostic tool to clear and restore codes and no regular ODB computer reader can't clear it including the SRS instrument panel code, only Volvo mechanic techs can!

U will need to have the TCM (Transmission Control Module) tested for fault codes, any time the light comes on a fault code for the failure is stored, this code is key to finding the starting point for the repair, otherwise u are just guessing, and this can get VERY EXPENSIVE very fast, so have the code test run.

Ok well P0785 - Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction (3-2 shift solenoid is not working properly)

A good mechanic should be able to access this shift solenoid (3-2) by removing the transmission cover, and valve body. Shift Solenoids are installed in the valve body, and are like electronically controlled mechanical "on / off" switches. Also see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsVY6by00rc

How do you fix trouble code for 2001 volvo v70 xc control module?

What was the code number? If the engine light didn't come on then it may have rectified itself and there really isn't a problem. Put the code reader on again and see if there is still a code in the memory.

Find a transmission servicer that is not afraid of tackling a Volvo problem. This is probably why the car was for sale in the first place. Good luck!

Transmission service required - how much?

You will need to take the car to a shop that has Volvo Vida and have it scanned. There will be a fault code in the trans control unit. This code will hopefully help the mechanic diagnose the problem and give you an estimate for repair.

2001 V70 add around 40mphr it shakes and shudders.

It may be your torque converter, or you may need a simple fluid change. Make sure they use the EXACT fluid as mentioned in your owners manual. get the fluid changed first, as replacing the torque converter can cost a couple thousand dollars.

Volvo V70 t5 Shift to Transmission cable broken

Seems excessive for just a cable unless the transmission has to be removed and dismantled.

I suggest you check with the dealer for costs and parts availability and the dealer price would typically be the most expensive quote for your guidance.
Then you should ask at least a couple of local transmission specialists who would typically be 30 - 40% cheaper.

2001 volvo s60 t5 - performance reduced warning message, limp mode activated

i have a 2000 s60 2.0t and got the software update due to the recall. it apparently was some kind of safety measure when a fault of some kind occurred but it nearly got someone killed while overtaking and thats why the recall happened. sounds like the same issue but i could be wrong.
