Question about 1995 Jeep Wrangler

1 Answer

I have a 1995 Jeep Wrangler with a 2.5 4 cyl engine. I don't have any oil pressure reading on the gauge in the dash. Decided to change the oil pressure sending unit, but having a hard time locating it on the motor. Have any pics I can look at?

I agree, it should be a very simple fix. However, lLooks like the layout is a different for the 4 cyl. I'm not seeing it anywhere. Any chance of having a pic of the 4 cyl engine.

Found it. Located next to filter (toward front of engine) under cables.

Very easy its just above the oil filter, it has a little clip disconnect then wrench it off. 5 minute job, whenever i change them i always change the oil first then change the sending unit!! It takes a special tool to disconnect it so make sure when u buy it to rent that tool. Autozone will have it. I have a 1995 Jeep - 03d97e3.jpg

95 jeep wrangler. 4 cyl engine. Oil gauge normal with engine idle but reads high if accelerate goes all the way up

Do you have under drive pulleys? If so, you can expect that to happen. It does not mean that something is wrong. You may have a high volume oil pump too. I have under drive pulleys on my Camaro and the oil pressure and voltage readings go up. I have never had a problem with that. I would worry when the oil pressure gauge does not move at all $$$$$$.

My oil pressure gauge (on the top right of the dashboard) randomly shows the oil pressure going down to zero (check gauge light comes on) and then randomly goes back into the normal range. It happens...

Did you compare what your dash gauge read when it was acting up and compare it to the manual gauge at the same time? I know you said you used the manual gauge and it read fine so if you get a proper reading out of the manual gauge and an improper reading out of the dash gauge then your dash gauge needs addressed.

Have a 95 jeep wrangler. 4 cyl engine. Oil pressure gauge is reading high. What might be causing this?

Oil pressure switch short on a 2.5 it is on the passenger side on the back of the engine block if the is oil on the switch replace it 99.9% of the time this is the problem cheep to replace and not hard to do.

Oil pressure gauge not reading on my 1994 jeep wrangler. oil is full just the guage has no pressure and not alot of power

The oil pressure specification for your engine is 13 PSI at idle hot, 37 to 75 PSI at engine RPM higher than 1600. I suspect your oil pressure gauge sender unit or gauge is inaccurate. I would have a known accurate mechanical oil pressure gauge temporarily screwed into the present oil sender unit to verify actual pressure.

If you have the correct pressure I would replace the sending unit first.

Describe your 1997 Jeep Wrangler 1997 jeep wrangler 4 cyl idle fluctuates 900 rpm to 400 rpm after warmup no service engine light but check guages light comes on momentarily when rpm gets low and oil press...

The check gauges light is normal because at 400 rpm it isn't running fast enough to build sufficient oil pressure. I am guessing maybe a vaccum leak???

95 jeep wrangler: gauge indicates 0 oil pressure

Wire on oil sending unit may have fallen off or sensor itself may have gone bad. Check both. If engine has no tapping noises, likely it's not a pressure problem.

2002 jeep wrangler oil pressure gauge drops

When the gauge is at 0, is there any noise from the engine (tick, knock etc?) I would have someone put a mechanical gauge on there and read true pressure.Your driving pressure seems OK but if the low number is "real" something is wrong!

Oil gauge goes up and down.

If grounding the dash does not work, try putting a mechanical gauge on it and reading actual oil pressure. Pressure does change while driving, but should not wander. With mechanical gauge, check that running hot at idle (in gear if automatic) pressure should not drop lower than 15psi (I'd rather see 20) High reading should be around 40 -50 but no higher.Low pressure indicates a loss of supply or bad bearing on the crankshaft, high pressure may be caused by sticking pressure relief or restriction in an oil passage.
