Under the hood where theaux. fuse panel is there is a lug that comes off that is suppose to be where you connect to jump another or same vehicle it is or was covered with a plastic cover (Red) this power connection is a big problem on this model of Pontiac To check this disconnct the Battery Disconnect the Large cable And the small one to thefront of the fuse block and clean it all good with a small wire brush sand paper or steel wool coat the terminals with some antiseize and reassemble oh yes the plastic fuse block houseing is brittle by this time so hold the cables both Large and small with Pliers or channel locks as if it is not broken it will be if you don't (both tightening and loseing) hope this helps good luck

87 cadlliac allante battery drains with car off. cant find schematics. maybe the electric convertible motor?

Fuses are under ashtray, #8 & #25 + breaker 24 are known issues but various items run off them, u need mechanic unles u know how to trace electrical.
Known issues : definately 1987-88 & also some other years :
MAKE sure your center console is closed & Latched or lite will stay on.
At nite look see if your vanity mirrors lites, or "dome" lites or trunk lites, or brake lites are on.

Battery light & brake light flashes on & off. went to parts store & had battry & charging system checked. was told battery was bad , bought new one .problem still there not as bad...

You need to get a volt meter on it. Your battery should be around high 12 to 13 volts while not running, and increase a little without going over 14 1/2 volts running.

I have a 2002 F350 Diesel that won't start. I got it to idel a couple of times, but as soon as you try to move it it dies. Now when you try to start it it clicks and blows black smoke out of the tail pipe....

Im not so sure your going to be willing to troubleshoot this but Ill give you all the steps your gonna need a few tools

now If i remember right an 02 is a direct inject engine this mean the injectors fire off of an electric signal so the first place to start is in the middle of the system RIGHT THERE buy a test light (about ten bucks) remove the connector plug from the number 6 cylinder (2nd one from firewall on driverside) and place test probe ground on battery - ground (black)
there will be two connections in this plug Don't confuse this with glow plug connector (bigger wire and there;s only one connection) place tip of probe into hole have buddy turn it over (fully charged battery not Dead) a few times Did light blink off/on/off/on No move probe tip to other hole on plug try again Still no lite blinking this tells you the the eec is not firing the injectors you will need to continue troubleshooting with a scanner tool (about 40 bucks) to find out fault code in eec OR you did get a lite blink this tells you the EEC is trying to fire off injectors so now you back track to fuel system
using a 12 mm flare nut wrench Loosten (Do not remove all the way) the nut at end of fuel rail that feeds cyl 2-4-6-8 use safety glasses here
have buddy just tap starter in quickly and release a few times
is fuel spraying out of loosened nut Yes, you have high pressure fuel to injectors No, you need to go back farther in fuel system on steel line that feeds injector pmp (center /top/front) from filter loosten nut have buddy try tapping starter again few times fuel leak out yes, Your high pressure injector pumps bad no your filter or your intank lift pump is bad or there's no fuel in tank (even though gauge says so) don't laugh
I have heard of folks paying big bucks only to find out gauge was wrong
thats it in a nutshell my only word of caution is fuel after high pressure pump can reach 10k psi or more so be carefull (they cut concrete with only 6k psi water jets) so make sure no body parts are closer than 20 inches when trying any of this and allways protect your eyes you only get two
