2000 Dodge Dakota sport truck, check engine light came on. i checked code P0455 came up. checked hoses for leaks and caps to make sure they were tight such as fuel cap

Here is a TSB that includes P0455. Sometimes leaks are hard to find. I found some I would have never found without a smoke machine. When you looking squeeze the rubber hoses crack show up better. Check the hoses good by the batter.ae0717b.png860877a.png

What does code pa455 mean for 2000 dodge dakota

emission control system leak (large). any leak in pressure in the system will set the code off, even a bad gas cap,or one left loose,so if you have a leak in the system that could be the cause of the code, good luck with it. p0455

Evaporative emission system leak detected (small leak)

Go to Autozone and have them scann the ECU for codes ( usually free). Tell me what the codes are and I'll tell you if the job is DIYer.

Have a 2001 dakota sport 6 cyl. and have coolant dripping from bottom of water pump.found loose bolt on bottom and tightened it.drove around at first no leak, then heater blowin cold air, then shut off...

Gasket probably will not seal now, and if your going to have to remove water pump to replace it, you might as well put a new pump on as well. The reason for heater cutting in and out, is probably just due to low coolant, and air got into system. When cool, remove rad cap, start engine, and turn heater on while letting it get up to operating temperature, and top up rad as needed, until you see increased flow in rad indicating thermostat has opened and coolant is circulating. Watch for that a couple of times, then put rad cap back on, and top up return bottle to proper level as well. That should get your heat back.

Where is the thermostat located in a 2005 dodge dakota?

there is a little bubble thing the top rad hose goes into, un hook the hose,un bolt the thermostat housing(some have 2 bolts some have 4) the thermostat is the thing with a spring in the middle.

I need to know where the thermostat is in a 2004 dodge dakota 3.7 L V6

follow the upper radiator hose to the engine, drain about 1/2 gallon of coolant and then pull upper hose off at the engine, look inside the metal large nipple, that is the thermostat.

95 Dakota overheats

the black chunks could possibly be from someone putting a stop leak solution into the radiator first drain the coolant system fill up with clean water put in some Prestone 10 minute flush and then drain and put in a flush tee in the heater hose not the one going to the water pump but the one going to the engine block open up the drain hose and run water through until clear and refill with new antifreeze and make sure car runs until all air bubbles are out and then replace the cap
