I beleive that is a vent tube for the differential. It doesn't really connect to anything. Usually it's held in place on the suspension.

Wanting to know if the Dana 30 front axle from a 2001 Grand Cherokee can replace the Dana 30 axle on a 2004 Wrangler?

dana 30 axles should be same all same
the only problem you will have to be aware of is the diff ratios
If the ratio is not the same , there is a real risk of front and rear diff failure or failure of the transfer case
you can overcome this by putting the diff from the bent axle housing into the new housing or have a transmission shop do it for you

Jeep sluggish between 15-18 rpms during shifting from gear to gear. what is the problem

i cant get that slang, DIff , gears, clutch to jibe. 1990 wrangler YJ
what does DONE mean.?
front or rear diff axle new, new transmission? what?
1500 to 1800 rpm 15 is engine stalled, or rpm of oil tanker ship.

got a MANUAL stick or automatic slush pump gear box?
but is no way to answer. you.
its a hydromatic A/T. right>? AUTO?
if yes,it has.
no electronics then. so clean AFT/ levels per operators guide not guessing? hot?
stall test pass (ask)
line pressure tests pass
kick down cable not stuck
or if M/t do say so, mine is, 5 owned..

but we only have one word here, sluggish to work with,
so that can be :
1: engine weak? (low rpms in all gears, and low power)
2: Trans slips (or flares) High rpm and low power (slip)

which is it?, the rpm in each gear answers that.
the FSM shows the range of rpm for each gear. ever seen a real FSM book? factory service manual.

98 jeep grand cherokee front diff loosing fluid thru vent hose and overheating

sounds like you have blown the internal heater matrix and the thermostat is not working or is blocked. you are going to need a new matrix and thermostat and a bloody good flush out of the system just in case there is something in the system means taking off the rad hoses flush them out from both ends. and doing the same to the engine. replacing the matrix as its not going to be able to fix it if its shooting water out of the vents change the thermostat check pipes for damage.

Hose to 4x4 actuator on left wheel is hanging loose under master cylinder i dont see where it connects

the acuator uses eletric to work not a hose. the only hose is a front diff vent. it is supposes to just end there. it is there so water doesnt get into the diff. if you follow it down and it goes into top of diff thats what the hose is. usually there is a cap on the hose but they do tend to fall off.

One side of front bumper cover is hanging down on my 98 handa

You should remove the bumper cover and take a look and make sure that the cover is not broken, its all plastic and the hold down arms sometimes break off and bumper will hang, also look for missing or loose fastners,

98 Wrangler Sport - brakes - the front passenger calipers

you could have a brake hose that has a piece of rubber making a flapper valve that causes brakes to stay on.or the proportioning valve has gone bad on you. if the brakes were notmush before you changed the hydralic stuff then perhaps bleeding was done incorrectly. just open one bleeder at a time and let it drip a few minutes then go to the next. make sure mast. cyl. doesnt go dry

Front end does not engage in 4-wheel drive

The front diff in this model requires air pressure to engage. There is an electric pump for this purpose and once the pressure rises and remains where it's meant to, the pump shuts off and the dash light indicating 4WD will remain lit. It is sealed. There should be no leaks. If there is air coming out the top, do you mean out of the diff breather pipe? (The diff breather should be connected to a hose that goes up and is clipped next to the radiator.) If it is coming out of the diff breather, you have a punctured (worn out) diff engaging diaphragm which can only be replaced by stripping the diff casing.

2002 grand vitara v6, will not engage 4x4, (no front axle activity) no activity light, tried 4-hi, and 4-lo, switches on t-case show shift rail activity, dont have a schematic to trace diff pump behind...

I had the same problem on Fraser Island over the Australia Day weekend. The problem was the rubber vacuum hose connected the front diff. There is a metal pipe than comes from the vacuum pump and along the lower engine cross member facing the front of the car. In my case the sand had dislodged the pipe which it turned dislodged the rubber vacuum hose connected from the pipe to the rear top of the front diff housing. This hose engages the front diff / hubs - if they don't engage the 4x4 green light won't come on. After reconnecting the rubber hose everything worked perfectly.

Hope this helps.
Cheers

4x4 does not work

Hi Jason this hose is simply a breather hose. One end is attached to the diff the other is just tied up ( not connected to anything)

98 jeep wrangler no heat

Try this disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core use a hose to backflush the core. Then reconnect and try again.
