My chevy is older but there should be 2 screws holding the arm rest down. then check for any others...there is most likely those plastic ribbed push clips holding it to the door...you have to CAREFULLY work your way around the panel and pry/pop them loose. be careful because they like to break if you're rough with them.

Remove outside mirror on 2012 chevy traverse

You need a special puller for the inside door panel. Have to go to an autoparts store for it. Then you take out all the screws on the door panel. The you use the puller on the bottom and sometimes the sides to LOCATE and REMOVE the fasteners..Lift the panel up and away from the door. Careful about any wires that might be connected to switches. Unplug those if present. You will now be looking at a sheet of sound deadening material that has a tar like substance on it. You cannot really save this and it is messy. remove it and then you can see the internal door and window parts. Be careful because the parts are sharp. Long sleeves and gloves are recommended. See if you can reach in under the window and feel for the bolts. If you cannot then the window has to be removed. Locate and remove the glass retainer and remove the window. Then remove any bolts holding the window mechanical parts. Then you should be able to get to the bolts for the mirror.

You do need to remove the door panel. There are numerous clips that pop out, two screws, and the screw beneath the roll down lever which can be reached by popping the knob off.

Replacing driver side door handle

First, ya gotta remove the interior door panel....

Door Panel
  1. Fully lower the door glass.
  2. Remove the arm rest, door lock knob and inside door handle escutcheon.
  3. Remove the regulator handle.
  4. Gently pry the door panel away from the door.
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Install the regulator handle (correct position) with the door glass closed.
Next you'll need a small ratchet and extenstion with socket...or a socket driver (like a screwdriver but holds a socket). Remove the two nuts attaching the handle to the door. Use a long thin flat screwdriver and pop loose the clip attaching the rod to the lock mechanism..
Manuever the handle off the door and then install in reverse order.
