Question about 1997 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

Hi I am looking to buy a 99 Vienta camry and have had it checked by my mechanic who has come up with $1000 worth of oil leak problems including a rear main engine oil seal. The seller is thinking this could be a drip coming down from the rocket cover gasket leak or timing case seal leak, is this possible and if these problems are fixed could this then lead to other problems. IE uncover one thing and fixing it leads to other problems?? Thanks

With leaks like you describe - I would avoid the car like the plague. Listen to the professional - he has no interest in selling the car.
YES it will lead to very expensive problems.

What causes a 1993 toyota vienta to heat up excessively

Coolant level low, thermostat stuck closed, radiator fans failed, head gasket leak to coolant jacket

After checking the coolant level, look at the radiator fans when it is very hot to see if they operate.

If OK, have a mechanic do a simple check for combustion gases in the coolant, and a compression check on all cylinders. This is not expensive.

If OK, change the thermostat and flush the radiator.

have a pressure test done on the coolant system to find the leak. check the engine oil to see if it is milky or grey. Have a compression test done to check for head gasket fault or cracked head.

Should I fix my oil leak in my 1986 Toyota Camry 1986 4 cyl.?

On this car it's almost worth the repair cost to fix many of the common problems, they are quite reliable cars. So if your mechanic thinks the rear main engine seal is leaking, or the automatic transmission torque converter is leaking , be ready to spend some money on the labor, as both repairs require that the transmission be removed. Aside from this one repair, all other work can be done with relative ease! Keep this car, over 250 k, think about selling.

Your central processor is erratci and givng into wrong commands. Start from exiting one by one from the battery of the remote to the main hand rest., Check for poor connection in the wiring harness specially in the areas of the door hinges where the wires go into the customer control. Also try to find out if any moisture or oil has clogged on to the main Unit.
Hope you have patience.

My toyota vienta 3VZ-FE 1996 - oil leak onto exhaust

That engine will leak oil from

- cam cover gaskets (rear one drips on the exhaust)
- camshaft end seals
- distributor shaft o-ring (appears on top of transaxle housing)
- oil filter bracket to block o-ring seal (drips on front bank exhaust)
- crankshaft nose oil seal (have done with timing belt change)
- rear main seal (expensive, leave it be)
