Hey i have changed the oil and the light is still on why is that?

You have to reset the light manually. Not too sure how you do it on these cars. Try looking in the fuse box for a reset button. If there is one, turn the key on, and press and hold the reset button until it beeps.

Some of these cars you can reset it by turning the key on and fully depressing and releasing the gas pedal 3 times.

Change oil reset button location?

My change oil reset button on my 2002 Grand Am is in the fuse box by the drivers door. Turn the key on (so all dash lights are on), push the red reset button until the "change oil" flashes, then hold the button down until it clears from the dash. This should take care of it.

Change oil soon light. how to get it to shut off

Answer The "change oil" light on a 2001 Grand Prix is reset by pressing the gas pedal three times while the vehicle is in "accessory" mode:

1. Turn the car off.
2. Place the ignition key in the "on" position, without starting the car. That is, turn the key forward to the place right before it fires the engine.
3. Place your foot on the gas pedal and press it all the way down three times, waiting approximately one second between presses.

If done correctly, the "change oil" light will flash repeatedly, and will then reset.

Please note that it is rare to do this successfully on the first try; if it does not work, turn the car off and try the procedure again, varying the wait slightly between pedal presses at each attempt
