You have a short. Unfortunately this can be a tedious task. Check the switch with a multimeter. If that does not work, you will have to start at one end on the head light circuit and visually inspect it to the end. Grab a wiring diagram to plan out your attack. Check for loose, corroded, and carbon dusted connections, frayed wires, bare wires, etc. Pay attention to areas of wire with tight, rubbing contact with the body of the vehicle. You can order a Haynes repair manual from Auto Zone or Advanced, for just about any year and model. The wiring diagrams are in the back.

You might have a short in the headlight switch itself. I would check the positive side of the taillights to see if they are shorted to ground. Not sure on a manual, besides All-Data.com. You can also purchase it thru Auto Zone.com.

My 2005 matrix keeps blowing 15amp rear running light fuse every time light get turned on all other lights work fine.whats causing this?

fuses blow because of dead shorts or excess current draw
to blow a 15 amp fuse indicates a dead short
by disconnecting the rear lights , the problem is in something else you have replaced
could be a problem in the head light wiring

Where is tail light fuse for Chevy Malibu 2003?

The fuse for the horn can not make it blow.only a bad horn switch/button can do that. The tail light fuse should be marked in the fuse panel. If you have the vehicle manual you can most likely find it in there.

you may have the wrong wires hooked into the switch. try testing the wires with an ohm meter and making sure they are both the positive wires. always disconnect the negative battery terminal before installing any electrical devices

2002 Isuzu axiom cluster lights and tail lights out

Don't try a higher fuse , it just makes things worse by adding extra burn to the problem.. First make a test lamp with a 21w bulb ( indicator size) .You now have a bulb with two wires attached , insert the "test bulb" across where the fuse should be.
When you switch on the circuit concerned it will glow BRIGHT as it is getting a POS (+) and a NEG (-) ie blowing the fuse (short circuit) in the fuse box and therefore a BRIGHT bulb.
As you disconnect and eliminate or disturb the problem the bulb will immediately glow DULL ( in series contact now) and no longer a short circuit . As you check the circuits the illumination will change and, your on the money ! Let's know how you get on , Good luck

Are the bulbs out of the sockets and the fuse blows?
Take bulbs out and check again
Place one back at a time if fuse was OK with bulbs out to locate bad bulb.
Otherwise.......
Do this........if still needed with bulbs out and fuse blowing.
Put a circuit breaker in to replace the fuse of the same amperage.
It will trip off then back on.
Use a standard cheap magnetic compass........place along lighting wiring........the wire with current will cause the needle to jump as circuit breaker trips on and off.
Follow path of current to problem.....the compass will stop moving once past the shorted /grounded wire/connection.

Do you own a test light? Check for power at wires behind socket? Clean socket good , check contact spots for bulb & clean any rusty side of the socket with emery cloth, or sandpaper, for good contact also.
