How do I replace the upper radiator hose?

Wait until the car engine is cold and drain the antifreeze out of the car and then remove the hose and replace it. Be sure the clamp for the hose is properly located, you can look at where they are on the old one to determine this. Once you have done this put the antifreeze back in the radiator. Be sure to pour the antifreeze in slowly so not to get an air lock in the system. Once the radiator is full start the car and let it run until the thermostat comes open and then check the level of the antifreeze in the radiator. I normally take the cap off the radiator slowly while the car is running, just remove it slowly and stand to the side, that way it will not have back pressure on the cap. You may need to add antifreeze to the system after the thermostat opens and if you don't check for the addition your car may run hot. Just remember to be safely out of the way when removing the radiator cap and to hold it down and release it slowly until the pressure goes off.

How do i change my thermostat

Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. There you will find the thermostat housing, usually two bolts hold it to the engine. Go to the bottom of your radiator ,at left or right side you will find the radiator drain, remove about two quarts of antifreeze into a catch pan. This will bring antifreeze to a level below the thermostat. Then go back to thermostat housing, remove two bolts, lift housing, remove thermostat, scrap off old gasket, reverse process. replace antifreeze. Start engine and check for leaks. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

Radiator removal instructions

Remove the fan and shroud. Put a large (!) drain pan under the radiator and drain it - if you're lucky it'll have a drain petcock near the lower radiator hose. Unscrew the radiator hose clamps and disconnect the upper & lower radiator hoses. Disconnect the transmission cooler lines if they also go into the radiator (some do, some don't)... you'll want a second, small, drain pan to catch the transmission fluid.

Now unbolt the clamps that hold the radiator to the radiator support plate (across the front of the car). Lift the radiator straight up, being sure not to lose the rubber mount isolator pads. Remove it from the car.

Replacement is pretty much the reverse of disassembly - put the new radiator in place CAREFULLY so you don't damage it, put the mounting clamps back on, reconnect the transmission cooler lines and radiator hoses, check the petcock (if the new radiator has one) to be sure it's closed snugly, reattach the fan and shroud.

Now refill the cooling sytem with all NEW antifreeze/coolant and water mix, about 50/50. DO NOT reuse the old antifreeze. Take close note of exactly what brand and type of antifreeze you used, and never NEVER mix any other brand/type of antifreeze with it, only exactly the same brand/type.

After refilling the cooling system, start the car & check the transmission fluid. Top off if necessary.

I already found the main problem with my mustang the upper radiatior hose is cracked. i was just wondering if that would cause antifreeze to wind up all over the engine and the ground because i can't find...

yes that is your problem, the antifreeze is filled through the tank and runs into your radiator to cool and then through the top hose into you engine and then back to the radiator bottom hose

How many gallons is radiator fluid

On the 4 cylinder you will need 1 1/4 gallons of antifreeze mixed with an equal amount of distilled water for a 50/50 mix. On the V6 you will need 1 5/8 gallons of antifreeze mixed with an equal amount of distilled water for a 50/50 mix. Make sure and use the correct type antifreeze.

How much antifreeze should i put in radiator after a flush

sytem capacity is 8.6 qts. you want a 50/50 solution, so drain alittle more than a gallon of the straight water out, and add 4.3 qts. of dexcool antifreeze or equivalent. i always go slightly stronger just to be sure, but not too much antifreeze as it doesn't work straight. no more than 4.5 qts.

On a 2005 Equinox where is the coolant cap? Not that antifreeze holding chamber, but the cap where you are not suppose to open when its hot cause it shoots out everywhere. I want to put all new antifr

Not all vehicles have the cap you are talking about. If your vehicle does have a radiator cap, it will be somewhere along the top of the radiator. Would recommend going to a shop where they have the proper tool(s) to do a coolant flush.
