Can you tell me where the Neutral Safety Switch is located on a 1995 nisaan pathfinder? I looked up the part and cannot find anything that looks like that anywhere. Also, any tips on replacing it? Thanks for your help

Not sure if the first reply went through, but this is an automatic. I've been searching, but no luck yet on the location of the switch

Hope this helped good luck. btw im just guessing because i saw a pic it looks like its located on passanger side right in the middle of the trans. 1996 pathfinder, ignition issue, starter , battery , ignition tested, will start 100 times, then just won't, then start right up! And keep starting. Last time had it towed home, started right up.Help!

If the Pathfinder is a manual trans. Your clutch safety switch needs to be adjusted. if it is automatic, then neutral safety switch is the problem. Try shifting from Park to Neutral position on the gear selector and try starting. Check for low voltage at the starter solenoid (small Black Wire with White stripe ) You have to unbolt the right motor mount and jack the engine up to remove the starter. test so that starter is last resort. Hit me up at joestanton80@yahoo.com and I can tell you how to test the starter.

Neutral safety switch location

If you have a 5-speed manual transmission, you're probably looking for the clutch safety switch, which is located on the clutch pedal under the dash near the firewall, rather than the neutral safety switch, which is on the left side of automatic transmissions. Out of curiosity, why do you believe that it needs to be serviced?

Neutral safety switch

If the Stratus is a manual transmission, you're looking for the clutch safety switch located on the clutch pedal near the firewall; if it's an automatic transmission, the neutral safety switch is located on the transmission...probably an oblong, 3-wire connector.

1996 Nissan Pathfinder v6 5 speed back up light switch position

The switch that controls the backup lamps on a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder looks completely different and is in a slightly different location depending on whether the vehicle is equipped with a manual or automatic transmission. However, in ether case, the switch is located on the transmission.

On the manual transmission it is called simply, "backup switch".
On the automatic transmission it is part of the "inhibitor switch". (also known as "neutral safety switch")

Neutral safety switch location

Normally on your transmission. You will see one or two thick wire cable looking things that connect to a black thing on the top of the transmission (sometimes it's on the side). that black box looking thing is the neutral safety switch.

Won't start, turnover, nothing. can shift between park and neutral and car will start.

It sounds like your transmission range sensor. It tells your transmission what gear your in and what gears to switch to when driving. It is reading that your not in park unless you move your shifter. You need to have it adjusted or replaced. If you want to take a look at it, it is located on the side of the transmission with a cable running to it. Just a little box like thing.

Neutral safety switch

I would recommend going to the autozone.com website and registering the vehicle. It doesn't cost anything and will give you access to an online repair manual for the vehicle. The steps for replacing the neutral safety switch can be found there. (I checked). Hope this helped and best wishes.
