The water drain on the RIGHT-hand side not working

The water drain on the RIGHT-hand side of the housing for my 2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder convertible top is not working. There is no discernible debris blocking the drain (the car is garaged). I tried to slide a coat hanger to see if I could unclog it but the hangar would not slide down into the drain. The left side drain works fine. It appears that the drain is not a straight line from top to bottom. Do I need to access it from underneath? If so, how?

With respect I think I did not communicate my challenge.
Every time I take my 2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder through a car wash the space where the top in stored gets flooded on the right hand side. How do I access the drain pipe?

Thanks. I will try your suggestion and get back to you.
    Stay tuned!

Thanks! We tried that. The water comes out from a different place. The right side has a bend in the drain. I'm going to try to blow it out with an air hose tomorrow. Stay tuned!

If I was you I would try to push a flexible but rigid wiring through the left drain and if it goes through then force its way through in the right drain.

I would blow high pressure air down and up the hose.

Pour some water in the good drain and see where it comes out under the car and then look in same place on other side of car for the blocked drain.

Hi, What engine type do you have? Is it a 1nz-fe? The drain we are speaking of, is it an engine block plug? Is the reason for draining simply a maintenance procedure? Sorry for all the questions, thanks.

I'm not sure to be honest, but there is something you may want to try. Place a nozzle over the drain port you are able to access and apply air pressure thru the port via air compressor. This should blow any debri blocking this drain, and will also let you know where the exit is on this drain. Give this a try,and let me know what the result is......you have me curious at this point.

ZZW30 Toyota MR2 Water comes trough the softtop on both sides

I had the same Problem on my 2000 MR2 Spyder. If you gently pop off the black vents on the outside you will see the drain. With your top up feel back in the inside window well you will find the other end of that drain. I took the shop vac on the outside of that drain (the end that was behind the vent) and sucked it out while sticking a coat hanger (straightened out) down the drain from the inside. Then took the hose and flushed it out from the inside! Take a bucket of water and dump it over the outside of your roof and watch it drain! Works great and found out this is a standard problem with them!

Water in the storage area behind the seats in my 2003 MR2 Spyder. Has convertible. I believe the drains might be plugged but don't know where the drains to check!

There is a couple of plastic pieces you need to remove inside the storage bins. Two side pieces to be exact, just a couple of pins. Here is a link to more detailed instructions.

bank 1 will be whichever side cylinder 1 of your engine is and bank 2 will be the opposite side. It's named bank 1 and bank 2 so that no matter how the engine is laid out, bank 1 is always on the same side as cylinder 1. I cannot say whether the right hand or the left hand one will be bank 1 as I do not know where your cylinder 1 is. The garage should know

use only OEM Toyota trans fluid. If there is one lesson I learned with my MR2, its that Toyotas own trans fluid is the best. Yes, its a few dollars more, use it anyway.

As for your top, there is a product called Amazing Roll off. Its for boat canvases and its simply the best thing i've ever used. try it, you wont be disappointed.

Replace antenna on 2003 mr2 spyder

my antenna just stopped working in my MR2 2003 Spider. The motor still runs but the antenna will not go up and down. It made a weird noise and I had to pull the top of the antenna up to stop the motor from sounding loud.

Should I replace this or can you disconnect it and push the antenna up and down?

Thanks
