You should be able to hear the fuel pump buzz for a few seconds, every time you turn the key to the on position and there should be residual pressure in the lines. Fuel should leak when you loosen the nut. Hope this helps.

My 96 volvo 850 gtl2.4L ENGINE CRANK OVER BUT WONT START I REPLACED THE INGNITION COIL \ POWER STAGE WITH NO RESULTS.PLEASE HELP

Reasons for engine turning over and not firing are simple. Spark or fuel. If you've changed the coil packs then chances are it's a fuel issue. Get in cab and turn ignition to second position whilst listening to back seat. You should hear the faint noise of the fuel pump working. If you can't, I suggest you firstly check your manual to find the fuse/relay for the fuel pump and check that. If they are fine, you need to replace fuel pump.

If you can hear it working and it still won't start, remove the fuel line going to injector rail and point into a jar whilst someone turns engine over. You should have fuel coming out. If this is fine, go back to ignition, remove a spark plug and turn engine over checking for a spark.

My bet is your fuel pump has packed-up. Good luck diagnosing.

I have a 2001 Mazda protege. Has new fuel pump and pressure regulator, I have cleaned fuel tank , lines, rail, and injectors. Relays and fuses are good. I took breather off and sprayed fuel into throttle...

sounds like an electrical problem .pump isnt coming on .turn on key listen for fuel pump to come on for 10 seconds then shut off on its own. If you dont hear the pump then its probley fuel relay . next check wires are plugged into fuel pump. lots of cleaning ?? is the fuel rail screen plugged ???? disconnect before rail if the pump comes on next. turn on key check for fuel pumping out line .

No fuel up to injecter pump truck just stalled

Did you check for fuel pressure on the line from the tank while you had the filter off? Do you hear your fuel pump prime when you turn the ignition on? First I would listen for the hum of the fuel pump when you turn the key to the run position (not starting the engine) May have to get a helper and listen at the gas filler neck with the cap off. If you dont hear your fuel pump, check your fuses and relays. If the relay clicks when your helper turns the key on ( put your finger on the relay and ear down close to feel/hear the relay actuate)., and fuse is good, yet you do not hear the pump prime, I would say your fuel pump is shot.

If it is a diesel, check for fuel pressure coming off the direct drive pump hose while cranking the motor.

Fuel leaking out near the filler tube. would this be fuel line coming out the tank? The fuel leaks out only when the ingnition is on and the engine running.

if it is after the car have run or while on park i should say its the line coming from the tank. But since its while the car is running then its the fuel lines that is connected to the fuel pump .It will leak because of while the car is running , the fuel from the tank going to the filler tube . then it will pass to the fuel pump and it will leak while the car is running . therefore you should check on the fuel line that is connected to the fuel pump, which near the filler tube.good day.

Truck will not start

Check the fuse to the fuel pump and check the fuel pump relay. Also check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve, there should be 60PSI to 65PSI when the ignition key is in the run position and the fuel line is pressurized. The other thing to is make sure all the other fuses are good. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.

I think my fuel pumps gone??

Stand outside your car when it's quiet. Turn the key on (so the dash lights come on), and listen. You should hear almost like a buzzing or humming sound from the back of the car. Thats the fuel pump pressurizing the fuel system. If you dont hear it, the pump's not working. Check your fuses first, the fuel pump does have a fuse in the fuse box.
