The Odyssey trans has no sump pan. There is no access to filter or screen.

I cleared the codes, no other codes are curent. The hard shift in to #2 will cause check engine light to come on and traction cont. light also. Code comes up as knock sensor. Clearing the codes dosent change the shifting prob. I have changed the fluid 2 times ( honda fluid) and checked all the external sensors, & sol. valves.

Hard up or down shift in to #2. (automatic trans) all other shifts are normal. Tq-convertor lock and unlock, normal. All external electronics(sensors & sol. valves) are good. Changed the fluid two times.

Is this automatic or manual tranny?

If manual,m you could have a worn plastic coupler under the shifter, a bad syncro in the tranny can also cause this problem. There a syncro for each gear.

P139 is a pending misfire code this can be caused by an EGR valve problem in the Odyssey

Either the 2nd clutch pressure switch input is bad or a PCM going bad or a bad ground

  • Nate Stansfield
    Nate Stansfield Apr 30, 2010

I still believe the 2nd gear automatic pressure switch is bad or there is not a good signal to pcm.

Most common cause is stuck solenoid, bad wiring, faulty pressure switch, or weak signal to pcm

WARRANTY COVERS ONLY 99 - 01. DID RESEARCH AND NOTICE A LOT OF
ODYSSEY'S HAVE SAME PROBLEMS. CONSUMER GUIDE AUTOMOTIVE WEBSITE SAYS
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS PROMPTED COMPANY TO EXTEND WARRANTY TO 7
    YEARS/100,000 MILES

If the car won't shift into
correct gear and displays a self-diagnostic light most likely the fault
    is
not with the transmission. Sometimes a clattering sound may also be
heard in the cockpit. This may be the sound of the transmission
interlock system misbehaving, which may indicate a bad TCU.

    Do not replace the
transmission without first confirming the situation
electronically. The fault is usually the
Automatic Transmission Control Unit (also known as the
    automatic transmission computer or
    TCU/TCM.)

    The
resistors R41, R42, R43, are overheated or burned and capacitors
    C27, C28,
    C32, C33, C5
leaking or shorted. Some resistors will be burned off
    and

we do not know the values. A common sense approach is to consult a
working TCU and read the color code on the resistors or start with the
highest resistance and go down. Find the best wattage resistor or the
best voltage capacitor that can fit.

The problem originates with the electrolytic capacitors leaking. Often,
the capacitor short circuits frying other components such as your
    resistor. Another words, the burned
resistor is a result of another component failure, namely the capacitor.

One of the operating relays inside the gearbox is not working properly ,this will involve dropping the sump pan and then removing the valve block to gain access .Then iam not sure with this make of vehicle as to weither the one solonoid on its own is obtainable or the complete assembly ,here in spain no parts are sold only a exchange gearbox for an automatic .The last honda i tried to buy spares for the gearbox for they laughed at me because no one in the dealers had even seen a civic with an auto box .

Why is my 91 honda accord ex s light flashing?

This is a trans issue, and OBD scanners won't read these. Jump the 2 pin OBD connector and count the light flashes to get the code #. Then go online to find a list of codes for your Honda.

Yes most likely, the brake switch also sends power to a solenoid to unlock the shift lever. If the trans works fine once you get it out of park, the trans itself is fine
