Thermostat on focus zetec se 1.6 year 2001

I have bought a thermostat from the ford dealer but i think it is the wrong one.the one they supplied me with has a rubber seal attached to the outer rim.i think this for the 1.8 or 2.0.the 1.6 should not have rubber seal but uses a plain thermostat with O rings in the housing.am i correct in this.

Is the thermostat the correct temperature rating. It should have a temperature listed on the thermostat, and does it fit the cavitity the old one came out of.
If the answer is yes then its a matter of the correct gasket. Call the dealer and ask them. Remember sometime the manufacturer change certain parts
they are not required to tell anyone they had. You might be getting an upgrade (as long as it fits the cavity for the thermostat.)
If the rating on the new thermostat is different from the old one and it doesn't fit the cavity then bring it back and show the dearler what came out of the vehicle . The same with the gasket.

check to see if you knocked the wire off of the sensor. if not you might have trapped air in system and will have to open bleader and fill with water to top

Need a coolant reservoir for a ford focus se 2001 with a zetec engine

if you need a new coolant reservoir -- the best place to get a new one would be from the Ford dealer in your area. BUT you might also try and call a wrecking yard in your area that deals with Ford vehicles,, since the car is 10 years old there is a good chance that they have a few in their yard and they will sell it to you for around half of what the dealer will want for it. ( plus the dealer will most likely have to order this part and that could take a week or so to get - the wrecking yard will have it for you in a matter of minutes ).

change your dealership ,infact i would say this is not a ford reconised dealer ship,it might advertise ford full stop.Any good dealer would reconise this problem as the switch and i have taught 16/17 year old who would have had your problem fixed and sorted in 10 mins.adrian,,,,,,,,,,,

If there is no decal under the hood somewhere, start with the belt around the crankshaft, and then go flats to flats, ribs to ribs. You may have to try a couple of times, but you'll get it.
