Question about 2003 Jeep Liberty

1 Answer

My Jeep liberty Rear suspension has something loose. When on and off the throttle the suspension twists and dog tracks! It's also clunky. I had it up on a lift and went around with a pry bar looking for loose components and had no luck. It does have a ball joint in the rear center. It could be loose but with the suspension hanging it's tight. I'm at a loss and it's getting worse. I had it in at the dealer and they found nothing???? Anyone I let drive it can feel the problem.

Problem is that most "ramp" type lifts have become obsolete. As you said, you can't find anything with the suspension hanging (bushings are loaded)
Try checking it on the ground or up on four drive on ramps (careful though).
And, shame on that dealer for not trying harder!!!

Can I remove tube inside rear beam axle?

Look at the diagram and tell us what part it is:

Generally speaking about suspensions, most don't consider the side to side and tracking involved and when something breaks, if you do nothing or don't fix it right, the least damage is tire wear, the worst is the whole unit comes loose and twists at an odd angle causing body and property damage at low speed and injury or fatality at high speed.

2002 jeep liberty break lights not working

If you're not proficient with using a voltmeter and tracking automotive circuits, I would leave it to a professional. The last two years I have been on here, I've seen a significant number of Jeep rear lighting problems. A lot of it can be traced to problems in the light assemblies, some to loose or non-working sockets. It may sometimes be poorly soldered electrical connections, I don't know, but it seems almost a common problem. I hope you post back what it turns out to be. Good luck.

05 jeep liberty -rear recall done by dealer,,, alignment ,,,jeep drifs to the right

take it back to the dealer and have them check for correct installation of the recall
it is necessary to align the rear of a vehicle before the front is done or you will get "crabbing" which is what you describe
any work on the rear suspension will require that the rear be aligned first

2003 impala rear of car kicks out around turns feels like car is dog tracking but coil springs look okay

Look for loose parts, loose front carriage bolts, suspension bolts or wear, and don't forget to make sure that tires are all the same size and that the wheel bearing are all good. This can be a difficult thing to find, but these are good places to start.

Rear suspension,bushings,2005 jeep liberty

Generally the bushings aren't too expensive (likely about 25-30 each...But, unless you have done this kind of work, driving the bushings out and installing them can be difficult without a press. I've done many in-shop and its nothing like the ones I've done at remote locations using a hammer and chisels etc. You can do this yourself but I'd opt to do the r&r at home and have a machine shop do the actual bushing pressing. If you damage the arm ends you will need to replace the arm or do a bunch of bending to get the bushings back in place.
If you do have a press, than go at it!!

2003 Jeep Liberty rear side window "squeals" when operated down.

I usually spray guide tracks with a silicone spray. It works pretty well. Up north where I am, when sprayed on door seals it keeps doors from freezing closed as well!
