If you do this yourself, 1 tip, i painstakingly unplugged it witht he switch still in place and then read later that it easier to undo the nut holding it on to the mount at the top of brake pedal and tHEN undo the snap togeter plastic plug.
It also doesn't hurt to be "Houdini" body flexible since you hav to lay on your back to do, or at least I did, but it's doable by yourself.

Replace the stop light switch. It is a $24 part, mounted on the upper brake pedal. I will attempt to include a pic below.

Sorry, picture didn't work. You can access it at autozone site.

I thought the picture of the switch might help you locate it-logging onto auto zone site and entering your cars info, clicking on the part 'stop light switch' would show you what the part looks like-why the bad rating? Was the stop light switch not the problem?

2004 ford mustang mach 1 brake lights dont work dont have manual to change the fuse

I don't believe there is a separate fuse for the high-mount brake light. Never was on older cars, that brake light is just spliced into the rear brake lights. Have you checked the bulb?

Brake lights quit working.

if all fuses and bulbs are ok get to the brake switch and see ifits stiff or stuck, if it just has two wires on it you could join themtogether to see if the brake lights come on though obviuosly dont leave them joined.Good luck davelee
