Question about 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

1 Answer

Trying to find a parts breakdown of the dash for a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500. The temperature actuator on the drivers side is sticking and I want to see if we can replace it ourselves.

Could the climate control go out on 2001 chevy tahoe

I would check the actuator motor under the dash in the center to make sure the motor is getting power or it may have gone bad if you are not getting air in the direction you want.

Temperture control systems

Air Temperature Control Blend Door Failure

In all modern cars there is a tiny DC electric motor driven gear drive that moves a plastic door that blends heated and cooled air from the AC and the heater core, this is called (interestedly enough) the air temperature control blend door actuator. The motor that moves this door fails because the door starts sticking from warping, most common complaint is no heat but it can be no AC as well. To replace these parts (blend door and blend door actuator) you must remove the entire dash from the car. Always have this problem confirmed by a dealer or qualified repair shop as it is a very expensive repair.
Also try disconnecting the battery negative cable a few times for 5 minutes to see if the systems are just out of sync.

I have a 2003 silverrado that only blows heat out of the passenger side what could cause this?

You have a failed passenger temperature door actuator. To replace you have to remove the dash, the actuator is located on top of the HVAC module behind the dash in the center. After replacement the actuator has to be re-calibrated with a scanner.

How many hvac blend door actuators are there in a 2002 chevy silver ado and where are they located. I tried to purchase the part and it gave me an option for upper and bottom actuators. I need to know...

I'm having the same problem with my 00 GMC Sierra. If you do NOT have dual zone climate control, it's just to the passenger side of the transmission hump under the hush panel underneath the dash. 3 screws take off the hush panel, two take off the actuator. One screw on the hush panel is a pain in the **** to get out. I'm still trying to figure out if the "upper" or "lower" is the proper fit for it. If you have dual zone, then one is under the passenger side, and the other is under the driver side. Hope this helps!

01 Chevy Silverado 4 X 4 not working. 4WD light

Having the same exact problem but with my 1999 escalade. Thought it was the actuator bought a new one installed it transfer case would engage but front end wouldnt lock. Took it out of housing left it plugged in got a friend to go through all the 4wd for me and the plunger never moved out the actuator. Checked my wiring harness which is a four prong ann it had one hot prong like it is suppose to. Traced wires even replaced dash switch same problem. Taking it to local dealership tom to have it checked for codes. I was told it could be the transfercase actuator even though its workin that actuator is what sends power to the front to engage the actuator to lock the differential.
