How low was the fuel if it is on the reserve tank then you may have to roll the car to level ground the fuel pickup may not be able to **** the gas up being that it is so low the gas may all be to the rear of the tank the pickup is usually in the middle of the tank once on level ground it should start if not you may have to add some fuel to the tank. as a word of advice try not to let yor tank get to the point where the fuel light comes on because your tank has moisture and trash in it from the gas and whenever it gets low like that it can **** it up and clog your fuel filter or even your injectors. hope this gets you going .let me know how it turns out.

I parked my 2004 Ford Taurus on a hill and the low oil pressure light came on and it wouldnt start but when I moved it to the flat surface it started fine . What could cause this?

check engine oil level just on case
if full level ...... not a problem

fuel in tank same thing.... no problem

gravity verses liquid theory
the angle of the hill was too steep
forced oil away from oil pump pickup point in the sump
same with fuel fuel ....pump only on one side of the tank

Start a car after it has run out of gas?

If you ran the car empty it really only needs at least a gallon even on a hill it will start. Sometimes it takes 2-3 key cycles for full prime. If its still not starting you could have low fuel pressure , fuel pump could be faulty

Fuel pump not running when parked up hill

is the fuel level low? when parked on incline the fuel will go to front or back of the tank, if the level is low it might not reach the pump which is usually close to center

Hello, There is a test called the "smoke" test which is done with a machine they hook up to the gasoline venting system. You could easily have a leak under the mounting straps for your fueltank.

The "smoke" test is the best way to find difficult leaks. Also remember to clear the light Code from the computer, it would take 25-35 Startups to clear itself.

Without clearing the Code, you may have already fixed the problem and don't know it. Sometimes you can clear the computer by disconnecting the NEG battery cable for 10 minutes. Some clients have radio problems after doing this, so I recommend going to Autozone, Oreilys, or Advance for a free scan and to clear the computer.

You may have a leaking fuel pressure regulator.
A Fuel Pressure Regulator is a simple mechanical device that holds constant fuel pressure or relieves excess fuel pressure by way of the pressure compressing an internal spring and opening an orifice back to the fuel pump.
Normally it is mounted on top of or near the TBI (injection) throttle bodies, on top of the injector, but if it's not visible there you will need to check a shop manual of follow the fuel line visually.

If it is mounted on the motor (not under the intake cover) you can remove a rubber hose and see if there's gas in the hose. If there is, the regulator has failed. The hose is only supposed to have air in it at all times.

A bad fuel regulator can allow gas to leak onto the ground or actually leak into the motor where it fouls the plugs.

check the fuel regulator ,parking up hill sounds like the fuel is leaking off pressure and going back to tank, when you park down hill, gravity is keeping the fuel pushed in the lines
