Do you have to unhook the battery before you pull fuel pump relay on a 2001 Mercury Sable

Anytime you work on a car is recommended by the manufacturer that you disconnect the NEGATIVE (-) battery cable. This goes double for electrical work. Personally I don't unless I am working on the SRS (airbags) system.

The radiator fan will not shut off unless I unhook my battery. What could be causing this?

The most common cause is a faulty fan relay. The relay should be off if the key switch is off.

The dinger(the alert sound that goes off when your lights are still on or when your keys are in the ignition) and locks keep going off even when I turn the car off

It should be just fine, unless you have something inside the vehicle that requires use of battery ( something added not factory)

2011 lacrosse. cooling fans will not run and the car over heat bad, Need to see the drawings for the wiring, 2011 6cyc, la saber

find the sensor that turns on the fans unhook the plug check for 12 volts with key and a/c on full speed should have voltage get cheap voltage test lite at parts store remember to hook one end of the light to ground{BARE METAL} got power? if so I would first change the sensor it tells the fans when they need to come You can check the fans by getting a piece of wire and running it to the fan plug from the positive terminal of the battery the fans should run watch fingers or long hair You can run a wire from the battery to the fans with a switch in the middle to turn them on when needed but that can be a real hassle unless you run the switch into the car and keep an eye on the temp gauge

I can boost my car and it will run fine then I turn it off and it wont start again is it a battery that needs to be replaced

this sounds like a bad alternator, that is the job of the alternator besides powering your car after start up, the alternator should keep the battery charged, believe it or not cranking your car is the only job your battery has unless you just switch you ignition to accessory, once you start the car everything runs off the alternator , a quick test for the alternator is this , crank the car and very temporarily unhook the positive battery cable, if the car does'nt die after 2 or 3 seconds the the alternator is putting out a charge

Car went through a deep puddle, engine coolant light came on and now the fan won't turn off even though I turned off the ignition

pull out the fan relay and see if that kills it. If yes, try a different relay to see if the relay is bad. If the relay is good, the problem is with the fan control circuitry.

How do i unplug my daytime running lamps??? they will not shut off unless i unhook battery.....thanks holly

If you are talking about the lights inside of the car there is dimmer switch on the left of the steering wheel that is below the air vent. If that is turned all the way up the lights inside will stay on even if all the doors are shut. Turn that down and the lights inside should turn off. Hope this helps!
