I have never heard of these terms for a smog failure. what did you fail for and was this diagnosed by a professional. ?? I have smogged thousands of cars.

well for a 1992 you should have one 02 sensor inbetween the cat and the engine. alot of cats have a plug about midsection that is used if the car has air injection (an air pump ). If the co was high that could indicate a failed 02 sensor but also you HC's would be high also Also the cat could be toast causing the same two reading to be high. alot of cats replaced for no reason when the vehicle is not diagnosed properly and in the same case alot of 02 sensors are also replaced when the cat is the problem. Then still yet on a car this old if all the parts are on the car its possible the computer failed causing these two reading to be high. Also any exhaust leaks before the 02 sensor would cause both the hc and co to be high.

If just the HC is high that would indicate you need a tuneup or some other issue is causing a misfire.

All these things can be tested at a repair shop providing your not missing any parts. If you are missing parts then your going to have to have them installed before doing anything.

I would recommend paying to have this professional diagnosed once you determine all the parts are installed correctly since doing anything else would just be guessing and it get frustrating and unnecessarily expensive.

How to change my water pump in a 1992 4 cylinder sundance

Dear Wendy,
I could try to tell you, but it would take many pages of this website, so here is what to do.
Go to a public library or a car parts store, and check out or buy or borrow a repair manual that will walk you through the steps.
There will be about 50 or more.
The repair manuals will be make & model specific.
Some names often found will be "Motor's", "Haynes", or "Chilton's" , and there are others.
God bless your efforts.

Why does my car **** and hesitate and has failed smog 2X is now a gross polluter ?

Because you failed to have a shop look at the data
& make the required repairs & get caught up on preventative
maintenance BEFORE you went to inspection

If you were in fact at a shop, for any reason, then they have no idea

the wire is feed by the asd relay as commanded by the computer to supply power upon seeing cranking rpm. the wire also feeds the injectors and other sensors. the wire you need is in a harnes that runs from the drivers side to the passenger side just behind the back of the valve cover.
good luck chris
