Clicks when attempting to start - 1994 Chrysler New Yorker

Are you equipped to test for power? A test light and voltmeter? If so, One click each time you turn the key? Or does it do more of a buzzing, a buzz is usually a low battery cycling the starter relay, a single click is either the starter relay, or a starter solenoid clicking on a starter that has failed. This car is old enough that the brushes may have worn to the point that they no longer contact the armature, sometimes a lite tap with a wooden object to the main part of the starter will make it start a few times again, if so it is worn brushes. The solenoid could also be failing. A test light and volt meter can tell you if power is getting to the solenoid, then if power is getting through the solenoid to the starter. If it is getting juice, and not starting, replace it.

If it is just one click per attempt, it may be a bad solenoid on the starter or fire wall relay
If it rapid clicking, it is probably a low battery charge.
Turn on your head lights and check for brightness, leave them on and attempt to crank engine, if the lights go dim, the battery is probably dead. If they stay bright, one of the solenoids ( relays) is probably bad.

07 ram 5.7 No start 1 click Battery cleaned charged up tried on boost - still 1 click . New starter- ran Jumper wire to starter from battery- 1 click. What can it be ?

If the battery connections at the starter are secure it is likely the solenoid is defective on the new starter.

When attempting to start monitor the battery voltage. If the voltage only changes sightly still above 12 volts it is likely that the starter motor is not getting power. Confirm that the starter solenoid is being powered when attempting to start.

If
  • all battery connections to the starter are secure
  • and power is applied to the starter solenoid
  • and no crank above 12 volts
these combined conditions will confirm that the new starter is defective.

I have a Mazda 626 es 2001, for a couple of weeks now my car takes several attempts to start normally like (4x)(clicking sound) ,but it has always started there after. Today I attempted to start the car ...

I don't know exactly, but mine was doing that. We got the started replaced and it still wouldn't start. Then had the fuel pump and filter replaced. Try the fuel pump first.....Just my advise after $559 in repairs.

Most of the time, car starts easily and runs well. Some of time, car starts - then stalls. Some times, car does not start and second attempt the clicking noise as if the battery were almost dead. New...

This sounds like you may be fighting more than one problem at a time.
First, I would replace the main relay (often located near the fuse panel under the dash).
Next, I would check all battery connections and even though the battery is relatively new, you probably should have it load tested.

Will not start

i suspect a faulty starter check for voltage output at the starter solenoid with a multimeter. or (shade tree) tap the starter with a hammer then attempt to start. if the vehicle starts after the tapping replace starter.
