Have the control arm bushings checked out. They will make all kinds of noises if worn out

Are 2000 GTs with 100K + miles prone to need swaybar , shock, etc bushings? Mine started a rattling underneath and someone told me they were prone to wear out bushings. Is that so?

Sway bar and suspension bushings - Yes, Shock/struts yes if shocks/struts haven't been replaced already. Check stabilizer links before changing anything, Stab links wear out and are common to make rattling noises.

How do i change rear struts on 2004 camary?

Hello, and welcome to FixYa. I'll be glad to help you out.

When you had the struts replaced, one of two things happened.

one - the rear strut retention bolts were not tightened up properly at the tops of the struts

two- the top supports on the struts were not replaced. Whenever we change the struts, we always replace the top supports. More than likely, this is your problem. The rear strut supports are notorious for wearing out, and, when they do, they make loud banging noises.

2004 Camry rear support part numbers:

Left: 48750-33062
Right: 48760-33062

I would suggest replacing the top supports to cure your problem.

Thank for choosing FixYa for advice!

Suspension noise

With the age of your vehicle, it depends on what the truck is doing.

If the truck walks to one side when you hit a substantial bump replace the shocks, or if you feel the truck swaying to much when you round a hgh speed corner, change the shocks.

If the steering wheel is not doing a good roll when you turn at lower speeds, change the shocks.

If you look at the shocks and they seem a bunch rusted, and/or are leaking change them.

When you stop, if the truck nose dives, change the shocks.

The list goes on, and it depends on how much you value your truck.

SAFETY ......your shocks control alot of what your truck does, bad shocks can lead to a roll over if you take a corner/curve to fast, and this is not meant to scare you...just inform you.

I hope this helps you out.

1997 Dodge Neon rattle noise in trunk

This is a classic problem with dodge neons. If you take out the carpet and try to shake your car side ways, you will actually see the strut move and make ratting noise. You can try tighten the nuts and bolts. There are only two bolts holding the strus from the bottom side and 4 nuts on the top side. More than likely you need a replacement. To replace struts, you need a spring compressor. However, your mounts and bushings might have worn out as well. If you find complete spring assembly and strut from the junk yard, that might just solve your problem. Make sure they are tight when you install them because if you don't your struts will be worse then on you have now.

Sliding noise in trunk

These cars have struts inside the springs. When the struts fail they start to make a noise that sounds like your problem. Also the strut mounts will make a terrible racket. Have these checked and replaced if needed. Hope this helps. Good luck.
