The clutch is worn out and will eventually slip all the time stranding you wherever you are at the time. It's probably not adjustable like they use to be.

If your clutch is hydraulic then it is not adjustable. Which means you need a new clutch and pressure plate and throw out bearing.

My catch on my 1988 ford xranger

check the clutch master cylinder for a blocked compensating port. this will hold the clutch off as the pressure in the clutch line is not releasing back to the reservoir. if you have a cable clutch then replace the cable as it is binding up inside.
i would change the clutch master cylinder if hydraulic.

Why does my clutch suddenly feel like its slipping on my merc capri xr2 turbo, engaging way to late after release of clutch pedal...hydraulic? mechanical? does it need a simple cable adjustment or flu

If you hit the gas in gear does it slip ? if its hydrolic and low fluid it wouldnt release the clutch you didnt put the year but i would have to go with adjusted at the tranny easy if thats the case also maybe the clutch is gone and theres a chatching point soyou dont mess up the flywheel those are spendy even used it engages the tranny starts the car and most importantly ballances the engine there for removing some metal could throw the balance way off

The clutch is not engaging correctly- if you let clutch petal up, it slips (if you give gas it's worse). If no or little gas given, clutch slowly engages after the clutch petal is all the way up.

sounds like you may be able to adjust the clutch and correct the problem, look at the clutch cable and and adjust it some and see if it helps, if it does then adjust it til you feel it is right.

I need to eplace a clith and i need to know if how i can tell if the clutch is really out

start the car andwith your foot on the brake shift it into 3rd or 4th and slowly release the clutch the car should stall out. if the engine continues to run then the clutch is slipping. Another thing to do is while driving punch and hold the gas. Do the rev suddenly jump up while the car stays at about the same speed or just slowly increases in speed? if so then the clutch is slipping. Get a Haynes manual (autozone for about $20) and see if there is any adjustment fore the clutch. The manual should also have some sugestions for checking out the clutch.

Clutch slips in high gear when I give gas going up hills in 94 nissan pickup. can I ajust it? thanks

might able to adjust it, but it wouldnt be worth it
if it slips when alot of resistance is put the the vehicle, it requires a new clutch for sure.

89 ranger manual trans slipping already replace clutch and slave cylinder? still slipping any help?

Manual transmissions do not slip ie. when the gears mesh, there is no slip unless they strip out and make an awful noise and will not pull henceforth.

You probably still have a slipping clutch plate against the flywheel. You need to adjust the clutch petal linkage shaft to allow the pressure plate to be release from the thrust bearing, ie shorten the shaft length.. If you and most likely you do just have the clutch release slave cylinder that releases the clutch when you apply the petal. You need to bleed the slave cylinder of any excess fluid or air that may have entered the line if you opened it at any point. You need to bleed it as you would a break cylinder and this should fix ya.
good luck.
good luck
