There is no easy way. the problem is most likely the key tumbler failed and a code will indicate this. if it was easy to bypass the security it wouldnt be security.

Call the dealership some times there is a sequence of things to do to disable like turn on the radio and open and shut the door so many times I know it sounds stupid but its true give it a try.

Okay two weeks ago I was inquiring about a 1996 pontiac grand-am, this car is in overall excellent condition from the ground up. It still is faulty in the anti-theft module or circuit though, when i

Resetting is a temporary fix to a larger problem. A 96 grand am runs the Vats system. These systems do not relearn the key or ignition. They use that "chip" in the key shaft. So the fact that the "reset" temporarily fixes the problem leads to one thing. A failed theft deterrent module. (TDM) In order to fix this problem, you will need to replace the TDM or bypass the system entirely. I would lean toward bypassing the system. That way you never need to worry about it again, can be done yourself, and for cheaper than a TDM. Go to this link and look under PERMANENT FIX.

The anti theft is designed to be permanent. Or else any thief could disable it and steal your car. Here is a link with info and the best ways to bypass it. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

I have a 96 pontiac grand am. And the anti theft system is on. My key doesmt have a chip. How can I reset the system. Is there a reset button? Where?need help. Just got a good job. Need to get it running...

Just because the car doesn't have a chip, doesn't mean much. The new systems work with a transponder in the key. Works on radio wave. There is no reset button, or else any thief could just push it. Go to this link. I'm sure you will find an answer. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

My 2003 pontiac grand am 2.2 ecotech keeps cuttin off its been sitting for a week what can it be

It could be your anti-thief system. Try turning your key to the on position but don't try to start the car. Leave it in the on position for 10 min. Your security light on the dash should stay on throught the process but will go out after the 10 mins. When you see it go off turn your key back off then start your car. If it starts, you just reset your anti-thief system. There are ways to bypass this system. I don't remember the web sights. Good luck.
