If the car does not crank over, have the alternator checked, car starts on battery power but runs on the alternators power output once its running. If alternator is bad car will run on the battery until the battery goes dead then the car will just die, thus it will not crank over then.

No The glow-plugs would not kill the engine. Defective glow-plugs would cause a no start if the engine was cold. I would look at the fuel filter. Is it full or empty?
Maybe you ran out of fuel or have a defective fuel-line.
Take a look at the fuel shut-off. On that year truck you don't have a lot of sensors or electronics. What have you done so far to try to diagnose it? If someone suggests to you, to use either. BE VERY CAREFUL!!! It shouldn't be used and if you choose to the Glow-plug circuit needs to be disabled. Let me know how it is going.

Frontier with yd25 engine cranks but will not start

are the plugs actually working properly though. you can test by removeing the glowplug rail & test each plug individualy with an ohm meter one probe where rail goes the other where the socket goes on to undo them. I don't know what the spec is but they should all be about the same. the other way is to remove all glow plugs & power them up & see if they glow red after a few seconds they should all take about the same time to glow red. Careful as they get red hot real quick so don't touch them

1983 Chevy Silverado, Glow plug light will not come on, Truck will turn over but not start, fuse panel has no blown fuses, I suspect the Glow Plug Relat but I don't know how to verify it is bad.

With most relays, you have 4 wires. One is power to the component the relay controls, one is a ground to the relay magnet, one is power to the magnet, and the fourth goes to the component, in this case the glow plugs. The ground usually comes from the computer.
With the key on you should have power to two terminals and you would jumper the hot terminal to the glow plug terminal. Or use a test light or meter to check for power on the glow plug circuit.

1987 nissan pulsar stoped working and wont spark

Believe it or not just as simple as spend the 180 on the spark plug wires they don't run even with three firing correctly. or check the cam or crank sensor. wires can be tested or looked at easily at night youll see flashes of electricity close to the spark plug wires.

The glow plug light in VW cars are telling you you have a fault not with the glow plugs but with the engine management.Get a garage to do a diagnostic check for you.

Could a faulty coolant temp sensor make the glow plugs run all the time on a 1983 Mercedes 300CD?

No the glow plugs circuit is separate. They actually are on a timed delay shut off. Check the glow plug relay module behind the driver side headlamp assembly. If the light on the cluster is staying on all the time it's simply letting you know there is a fault in the glow plug circuit. Doesn't actually mean that the glow plugs are staying on all the time. You might just have a bad glow plug which is breaking the circuit therefor the glow plug light stays on. To check this use a test light and have someone turn on and off the ignition to see which plug doesn't light up.

1800 fiesta diesel wont start just stoped cam belt fine and some fuel getting to injectors

Has glow plugs --check them. you can use a 12v test light or an volt/ohm meter to test each plug. Disconnect the connector on the glow-plug ,then and touch with a 12v test light --one lead to a12v supply. If the test light lights up that plug is good. or with a volt/ohm meter ,one lead to ground and the other touching the tip of a glow-plug--that's on the ohm's scale --if it reads --showing continuity, then that plug is good.
If all check good you may have a bad glow-plug controller.
