Question about 2001 Kia Sephia

1 Answer

My 2001 Kia Sephia suddenly won't start.

My 2001 Kia Sephia would start fine sometimes, and then sometimes I would have to try 3 or 4 times to start it. The horn was not working, so I replaced it. After reconnecting the battery cable, the built in security system activated and the horn beeped a bit and then stopped. Then when I turned the key, all the lights light up, radio comes on, etc. But it won't start - no click, no noise, nothing. Is there some type of security block? The previous owner said the security thing never really worked. Battery seems fine. If it was just the starter, would'nt the cylenoid at least click? I guess I could start with a new battery and if it doesn't start then, try the starter? Do starters just die that quick?

Even if your starter is out it would still click when you tried starting the car. so try replacing your battery first thats the most common problem for random starting. also look under the car you may need to jack it up. look under the intake manifold that is where the starter is check to see that everything is hooked correctly and that all the bolts are tightend securley and not loose on one side.

Sounds like a bad coil pack 1 and 3,if you change it and it's no help, see if you can find the vacuum hose that goes to the fuel pressure regulator, ,if there if fuel in the hose ,it's bad

If you have not replaced the timing belt and your car has 50,000 miles or more the problem is a broken timing belt. I don't know the exact reason but Kia timing belts will not last more than 60,000 miles.

My 2001 kia sephia wont start all the time. Just

when this happens you need to check somethings at that time to point you in the right direction, fuel press & spark , also you need to have the cam and crank sensors checked the shop should be able to find the resistance values of what they should be and then ohm yours. But the main thing is rule things out and narrow it down.

2001 Kia Sephia, electrical problem..

The fuse box may have gone bad and your getting electrical shorting. Check the fuse box under the hood that may have gone bad and may need to be replaced, look for corrosion where the fuse goes into and the wire harness. Don't know if you had your car since new, but there are a lot of cars from the Katrina Hurricane that was under water and the electrical system have major corrosion that should just be showing up now. Good luck and keep me posted

Check the fuel system. Cheap first....fuel filter. Then the fuel pump. The engine does actually turn over, but it just won't start...correct?
