It's not easy even for pro mechanic.
oil pan has to be droped , in order to repl. oil pump.
but I think you pump is ok , the problem is o-rings between oil pan and cyl. block , that's were you loosing oil pressure , which is again - oil pan has to come out.
Can't be done by a careful rookie.

How to remove ventilation blower motor

To do it properly you are going to need a Chilton's or Haynes type servive manual for you car. It will take you through the whole process. If you fore go it I bet you end up taking off more than you need to. I have been through it before. Or ask a service guy where it is maybe he will tell you all the parts to remove. Tough job done envy you a bit.

How do I install oil pump for 2000 ford explore v8.

The oil pan has to be dropped to get at it , it's bolted to bottom of the engine. I have done it on F-150 pick-up's before with a V-8. Had to take motor mounts lose so I could jack up engine to get the oil pan past the front cross member. Also had to reach in and take lose oil pick-up tube and drop in the oil pan . Not a tough job ,hardest part is cleaning old gasket off. A wire wheel on a drill does a real good job.

Oil pump replacment

Take the oil pan off, and it will be sitting there staring you in the face. Look at the replacement and see where the bolts are that hold the pump on. Remove them, take old pump out, put new one on. DO not overtighten the bolts. not a tough job, but very messy. Best to let the oil drain overnight after oil pan is removed. You will also need anew oil pan gasket

My 2001 olds aurora 3.5l has only 71000 miles on it yet it burns oil. i have a pcv valve to replace but cannot locate. have treated with sea foam. can you tell me where it is and anything else you can...

There isn't a whole lot that can be done for an engine that consumes oil, except to rebuild it. But, that would be more expensive than the $600 flush job that did nothing.

Perhaps, the sea foam wasn't the best idea, in my experience.

Maybe try high mileage oil when changing the oil that burns off less than regular oil.

Beyond that, I would consider getting another used engine or rebuilding this one if you plan on keeping the vehicle.

How to overhaul an engine?

TO OVERHAUL ENGINE YOU HAVE TO REPLACE ALL WORN PARTS.LIKE VALVES + SEATS+ GUIDES.+ SEALS. ALSO YOU HAVE TO REPLACE CAMSHAFT AND GEAR+ LIFTERS NEW CAM BEARINGS.NEW OIL GALLORY PLUGS AND FREEZE PLUGS.THE CYLINDER BLOCK HAS TO REBORED BEFORE INSTALLING.NEW PISTONS + RINGS+ CRANKSHAFT AND BEARING HAS TO BE REPLACED.ALSO OIL PUMP TIMING CHAIN.AND CRANKSHAFT GEAR.IT WOULD BE A WHOLE LOT CHEAPER TO BUY REBUILT ENGINE THEN TO REBUILD.BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF EXPENSIVE TOOLS AND HIGHLY SKILLED TO REBUILD ENGINE.ITS NOT A EASY JOB.

How do i change the oil pump on 98 chevy malibu

Are you sure it's the oil pump, Most of the time it's the oil sensor that has gone bad. Just trying to save you lot's of job since the oil pump is at the bottom of the engine in the oil pan. You can check by having the engine running and looking down the hole where the oil filler cap goes. Rev the engine up a bit and you should see oil splashing around which means your oil pump is working. Your oil pressure is created by the crank shaft. Good luck

Camry 1993 oil pump

No reason to toss the engine then. The oil pump drive sprocket is located behind the timing cover and he would have had to remove a lot of things to have definitively told you it was the pump leaking. Even then, you shouldn't have to replace it. It's far more likely to be a crank or cam seal that's leaking. Just the fact that he told you 1200 bucks would make me run, it's a 6.5 hour job to change the pump. I would suggest taking it somewhere else. Without knowing the service history, this is what I would do if it were my car: Since you have to remove the timing cover to get at the oil leak, I would take to a Toyota dealer and have them attack it as a timing belt job, tell them; "while you're in there, fix the oil leaks and replace the water pump". The labor for all of this is about 4.5 hours (~$450.) + parts (timing belt, water pump, seals (~$250). This gets you a whole bunch of maintenance for about 800 bucks. Now if you have had the waterpump and timing belt done already, you would be looking at 4 hrs labor and a handful of seals (~$30) to just fix the oil leaks.
Just out of curiosity, what part of the world are you in? My dollars relate to the Vancouver, Canada market.
